Head of the Lab - a jungkook fanfic

15 - preparing

The giant bracelets on your wrists flashed green. Then, lowered infront of you was a sample of rock. But it was the same rock as the one Jungkook made you test. Confused, you opened your mouth to say but Jungkook gave you a 'shut up' look. So, you didn't say anything but glared right back at him.

'This is a sample of the rock from the island's cave-'  Namjoon began.
'Aruna's cave'  You interrupted.
'Well, yes, that's right'  He stuttered, confused.
'I told her'  Jungkook said.
'Right, okay, no worries'  Jin replied.
'Anyways, just focus on first moving it'  Yoongi asked.

So, you did the usual and cast your arm, the rock being thrown off the platform and onto the floor. It was obviously really strong rock, it cracked the glass beside it and stayed intact even after hitting the tough metal floor.
'Now throw it upwards'  Namjoon said.
You directed your palm towards the big chunk of rock and then moved your arm upwards quickly. The rock, as you expected, flung up into the air, cracking the ceiling then crashed back down onto the floor. Already bored, you just sighed.

'Now the telekinesis'  Jin said.
You focused your palm on the rock and shut your eyes. You could feel your hand closing but when you imagined it and moved your arm, nothing happened.
'What the fuck?' You muttered.
'What's happened?' Jungkook asked, concerned.
'We aren't sure...' Namjoon answered.

They all immediately began fussing over equipment and computers whilst you just stared down at your palms wondering what was going on. Why weren't they working at all? Suddenly, Yoongi slammed his fist down onto the desk.
'Look at the computer' He said.
All of them raced to the computer and stared at it, you even ran up to them and pressed your face against the glass.

'The first bracelets she wore didn't contain any traces of potassium, but these ones do' Yoongi announced.
'So these bracelets are interfering with her ability to control the object physically?' Jungkook said.
'What should we do?' Jin asked.
Jungkook tapped his foot on the floor, his chunky boots clumping as always. He then stared dead at you, then the bracelets.

'Take them off, just for now' He finally said.
The other three looked at him quite suprised.
'Right, of course' Yoongi said.
They unlocked them from your wrists and carefully took them back outside, placing them on the desk.
'Now try, Y/N' Jin asked.
As always, you did the same ritual for the telekinesis and to everyone's relief, it worked. You picked it up and flung it at the wall, cracking it.

'You seriously need to stop cracking our test rooms, Y/N' Jungkook sighed.
'It's a habit at this point' You replied.
Immediately, they ran back in and put the bracelets back on. They flashed red and all the fun was over. Well, it wasn't really fun but whatever.
'Are you going to keep the bracelets on her?' Namjoon asked.
Jungkook looked at you, poking his cheek with his tongue before finally replying.

'I will for now, but when we are on Aruna we will substitute them for potassium free ones' He announced.
'Yes, should we use the old ones?' Yoongi said.
'I don't see the harm in it, as long as she doesn't get a remote again' Jungkook replied, staring over at you.
'We will get a new pair of them as soon as we can then' Jin spoke.
'Thank you, I'm pretty sure we all know the protocol, the bracelets must remain on Y/N at all times on the island' Jungkook disclosed.

They all nodded their heads and after that, you were released from the test room and taken to Jungkook's office.
'Do I seriously have to wear the fucking bracelets all the time on the island?' You groaned as you swivelled around in his office chair.
'Yes, Y/N, you do it all the time here so why's it a problem on the island?' Jungkook replied, fixing his cufflinks.
'I don't know, I'm just wondering if these bracelets will ever be allowed off me' You muttered

'When I trust you then, well, maybe' He said, walking over.
You got off up his seat and sat in your one on the other side of the desk. Staring down at the floor, you could hear him typing away at his laptop.
'We have to be there for 7pm, when the chamber opens, after that we have an hour to get inside before it shuts again'  Jungkook said.
'Hold on, can you just sum up the entire plan cos I'm so lost?'  You asked, confused out of your head.

The plan was to leave on Saturday and arrive there on Sunday at around 5pm, that gives them enough time to get inside the island and then the cave. It was Friday today so you were leaving tomorrow.
'I thought we were leaving in two days, like tomorrow then leave Sunday?' You asked.
'I've decided that we are leaving tomorrow, I can't wait anymore' He said, tensing up. 'I just want to get to that chamber already!'.

He was winding himself up and getting too excited so you just looked at him. He shot up from his desk and went for the door.
'Wait here' He said, closing and locking the door.
Startled, you just looked around and began walking around the office. You would be here almost everyday just talking about the plan and what Jungkook wanted, kind of annoying but whatever.

About ten minutes later, the door lock twisted open and he barged back in.
'Arms out' Jungkook ordered.
Hesitantly, you stretched them out and he got the magnetic key thing for the lock and took off the huge bracelets. Your arms felt so relieved after and so you held up Jungkook a bit by just stretching them.
'Alright, alright, hold still' He stuttered.
He then put on the original bracelets you had, the smaller lightweight ones.

He grabbed a remote out his pocket and clicked the button, making them flash green.
'Just pick up something in this room with the telekinesis, I want to make sure they work' Jungkook asked.
So, you just did the whole ritual thing, imagining it and closing your hand and focused on his laptop. You gently lifted it up in the air and moved it around before setting it back down. You heard Jungkook sigh in relief behind you. The bracelets immediately flashed red and he put the remote back in his pocket.

'Oh, look at the time' He said, staring at his black grandfather clock.
It was around 11pm.
'It's not that late' You shrugged.
'It is when we need to leave at 3am tomorrow' He replied.
'3AM?! I'm not gonna be awake?!' You shouted.
'It's fine, if you aren't awake I will just have to come in won't I?' Jungkook said.
