It was sunny at the train station this time. I was happy about that, because everyone knew we didn't need another tear fest. We'd come back next summer, anyway, and the summer after that, and the summer after...

Both Luca and I knew there were so many things in store for us when we got back to Genova. The view, the sights, the awesome food, the snow in the winter...we couldn't wait. But we also didn't want to leave Portorosso and Alberto behind.

It was the same every year: longing gazes at the beach as Papa drove us up to the train station, everyone waving goodbye, multiple hugs, and promises to return with loads of memories, anecdotes, and gifts. So much awaited us, but so much would have to stay in our little summer haven.

"Underdogs forever?" I turned to Alberto and Luca, my palms outstretched. They put their hands on top of mine, and on the count of three, we shouted a triumphant "UNDERDOGS FOREVER!"

From the day we won the trophy, we promised we'd stay the closest and best of friends, no matter what. There was no going back on that promise, and we all kept that close to our hearts.
