I never really thought I would have been so peaceful after being yelled at.

At my mother's house, it used to be different, she had this cunning smile when she approached me, deadly silence, and then all hell would break loose on me.

it was just 2 hours after Alex went to the office, he never came back home mid-day but today he did.

It has been 3 weeks since I have shifted into his house, getting on with a routine, trying to become a part of his life.

We never really talk that much except Good Morning, when breakfast is ready, lunch is ready, and whether you want rice for dinner to which he usually says 'I wouldn't mind'.

each time he talks to me, he looks at me with that intensity, like I have his whole attention, I wouldn't say I like it, it feels foreign to me, but his home, I am being quite comfortable in it, and that's is why I needed to be humbled.

"you came home early today," I said as I answered the door.

I didn't fail to see his sweating forehead and loose tie, I don't know why I was happy but I was happy that he was home early.

"oh sorry, I didn't mean to disturb your day of doing nothing but resting around my house." Alex spit it with such hatred that he pushed me with his shoulder as he entered the house.

I don't know what I did wrong, does he know about everything?

"What happened Alex?" I asked in the lowest voice possible as he began walking the stairs to his room, he didn't say anything but began walking up the stairs.

"Maybe I can help you." I didn't like him to see this angry and frustrated, and whatever made him feel this way I wanted to take it away from him.

He halted in his step and slowly looked at me with an unrecognizable emotion in his eyes."You happened to me, Layla."

That tone wasn't new to me, my mother used to talk to me in this tone from the moment I started to remember things, but Alex is different.

So the little pointed pin of hurt that last dropped when I was 8 dropped again with slight pain.

Alex noticed it as always but didn't say anything and left for his room.

I haven't done anything to make him upset, does he know about me, they won't tell him about that, otherwise they will lose all the money.

With all the possible circumstances in my mind, I cooked some lunch and took the tray to his room.

"Alex, I brought you lunch," I said as I knocked.

The door opened I saw a wet-haired Alex his eyes looked tired and his face was extremely red with anger.

And that scowl on his face was plastered on his face and he looked at me then at the tray of food in my. hand and then again at me.

My hands were shaking terribly, "lun-lunch." I said again.

"How much is 2 million dollars for you Layal?" Alex asked in the most calming voice, but I knew it was the quietness before the storm.

"A- a lot," I said with confusion and hesitance in my voice.

"Tell me, Layla, what would you do with 2 million dollars?"

"I don't know." why is he asking me all that, does he know about my dad?

So many questions in my mind and so many questions that Alex was asking me, that I couldn't keep up with them.

"okay a million," he said and he stood against the door frame.

My lips were opening to say something but just couldn't say anything, my mind was blank.

"I am sorry," I said as I looked down at the food tray in my hand. He is upset with me and I need to make it right.

"3 weeks and 2 million dollars gone Layla, where is my money?" Alex growled.

"I don't know," I murmured so low that he couldn't hear me.

"you don't know,  your mother spent my 2 million dollars on a trip to Monaco, two Birkin bags, a whole set of some shitty cigars, and some more shit." Alex banged the doorframe.

He is making me scared now, my eyes are stinging from controlling my tears it's getting difficult for me to breathe without letting a sob out.

"and not even that, now I have to pay her again 3 million dollars because I am married to you." Alex hissed at me as he grew closer to me, my feet couldn't take me away from my position.

"I am sorry, I'll return it to you," I said and I think this was my biggest mistake.

He chuckled, "Oh yeah you are gonna give me 5 million whole dollars."

He knew I couldn't and I knew myself I couldn't." I am sorry." I said it again to be honest I didn't have much to say to him.

"you need to tell your mother, to stop wasting my money and try to save her company on her own, I might have married her good-for-nothing daughter but I am not gonna take her good-for-nothing company too."

It didn't stop, a single tear left my eye, and that sob I was controlling so hard was out, I have heard worse but coming from Alex did hurt a little more.

"I am sorry I can't."

"What?"

"I am not to interfere with the business." I don't know where I got the courage from but I said it loud and clear without any stutter.

I guess my fear for my mother did overpower the new fear that I was having for my husband.

And he did have a right to be mad, my mother has always been an extravagant shopper, who likes to make rich people invest in her company and live off luxuriously on it.

Alex slammed the door in my face, the tray of food from my hands to the ground, making the ceramic bowl shatter into pieces.

I began cleaning the mess thinking, about if it was going to be like this every time, my mother would do something to aggravate Alex and he would lash out at me.

"ah," the nick from the broken piece of ceramic was able to bring me back from my thoughts.

I hurriedly cleaned and then went back to my room to stop the bleeding, the cut was deep but not too deep so the stitches were to be needed.

It took me a whole 10 minutes to stop the bleeding on my finger.

As I came inside my room, the door of my room was unlocked, and a tube of antiseptic was on the bed.

Picking up gently from the bed I applied the antiseptic thanking silently Alex for it.

Alex shouldn't have behaved like that right?

Hope you like it❤️
