Relax and Recover

As Sonic and Shadow slowly walk into the town, Sonic's head hung low, he was so exhausted, the pain in his chest made it barely breathable. He was able to brush off the pain in the beginning but now, it was really wearing on him. Thank goodness for Shadow helping him back to this town. As the Mobians that lived in the town took sight of the grizzly scene happening to the iconic blue blur a crowd began to form. Whispering and bickering among one another.

Shadow narrowed his eyes as his tone snapped the crowd out of disbelief. " Stop gawking and show me the nearest medic." His ears flattened in anger. " NOW"

he barked as Sonic opened his eyes and lifted his head up to see the scared faces. Sonic frowned as he forced his back to straighten out a little. "...Sorry guys, he can be a bit..nippy..but we are kinda on a time crunch, can you show us where to go." His tone is much softer to try and soften the sharp tongue of the darker-colored hedgehog.

An exhausted smile on his face as he briefly looked at Shadow's face and then back at the Mobians that stood before the two of them. The townsfolk nodded quietly and one of them gestured to the two hedgehogs to follow them. In this town, most of the Mobians wore heavy jackets to combat the colder weather. As they walked the Mobian decided to show the two hedgehogs where their hospital was. Their tone hushed as they looked over their own shoulder.

  "..are..you cold? You both should be-" the Mobian was cut off by Shadow boldly just saying. "No."

The Mobian was taken aback by the fact the two didn't seem cold. However, they did not press further on the topic. As they walked through the plowed paths Sonic tiredly took the time to look around as he hobbled along with the shadow supporting most of his bodyweight to walk. Sonic's eyes scanned the town but were greeted with faces of horror. The townsfolk looked scared for the blue blur they knew. Even though Sonic nor Shadow ever went to this town, everyone knew who they were. It wasn't a shock to be quite honest but it did bother Sonic, being gawked at while he was injured.

He wondered what was going on in the townsfolk's heads seeing this. Sonic flashed an empathic smile to the few who did meet his gaze as a futile way to silently tell them that he was gonna be okay. The walk wasn't too long and soon enough, the hedgehogs had made it inside the hospital. Sonic was quickly greeted by nurses, however, the energy inside the building was much more different than the townsfolk outside. The nurses that were working were excited to see a "Star kissed" hedgehog in the flesh let alone two at once.

Sonic wrinkled his nose as he heard that phrase. He wanted to make any Mobians feel like they could do anything and weren't defined by what they were born with. But using this term, Star Kissed.. it made a pit form in his stomach, what about all the other hedgehogs that weren't like him, think how they would feel... Being always overshadowed by someone like him. It ruins the whole point of why he keeps fighting for them, to put pride into other Mobians to stand up and show how brave they were.

Sonic only awkwardly smiled at the nurses as Shadow picked up on the term they used and was quick to silence the nurses simply stating "You know our names, do not put us in this class you speak of. Help or get out of my way." He spoke his tone cold.

  Thank you, Shadow... Sonic thought to himself as Sonic closed his eyes and sighed.

 The nurse's attitude changed and quickly took the two hedgehogs to a room to have Sonic taken care of. Sonic was helped up onto the bed and he laid down,

  finally a bed.. he thought to himself happy to be off his feet, and took no time to fall asleep knowing he would be cared for.

Shadow side glanced at the nurses as they were doing their job. Once Shadow found that they were doing an acceptable job and no longer needed to be watched, Shadow stepped out of the room and shut the door.

His arms crossed as he leaned against the wall, leaning his head back he took a long low sigh, this was exhausting having to do this, if only he was fast enough to get to Sonic Sooner, that he wasn't stupid enough to think Eggman didn't see him too, how could he have missed something that simple. He curses in his head.

 Blaming Tails for the gross negligence on that important fact. The dark hedgehog stood outside of the room for a few hours as doctors and nurses walked in and out of the room.

Shadow's eye caught a glance of one of the nurses walking out with the harpoon finally out of Sonic. Shadow perked his ears and spoke out. " Don't throw it, I want to bring it back. There's value in it ."

 The nurse looked mortified at the fact the dark hedgehog wanted the bloody harpoon. However, Shadow's blank expression showed the nurse that he wasn't kidding and the nurse reluctantly wrapped the harpoon up in a dirty cloth and cautiously handed it over. Shadow only set it down on the ground by his feet and leaned back against the wall again with his arms crossed and just relaxed waiting for any news now.

An hour soon passed and finally, one of the doctors poked his head out saying that "Guests are welcomed in the room again."

 Shadow raised a brow before nodding. Leaning down and picking up the wrapped-up harpoon he walked inside the room and set it down on one of the chairs and walked over to the bedside. Sonic's chest was wrapped up and he was just relaxing, having woken up from his little nap. " How's it hanging."

He spoke he still sounded tired but was in much better spirits. Shadow rolled his shoulder and drew out a long sigh. " cut to the chase, What's the damage."

Sonic perked his ears as he smiled. " Not much actually, because I did catch the harpoon when it hit me, I was able to stop it from going deep enough to cause everlasting damage, your buddy will be just fine." He spoke chuckling however, his chuckling did cause him to flinch in pain.

Shadow scoffed at Sonic wincing in pain as he shut his eyes responding to the injured hedgehog. " Good, then we can leave as soon as you're able to. And you're not my buddy... You're still cannon fodder to me."

Sonic only smiled and gave out a tired cooed response. " I'm starting to think your term for "buddy" is " cannon fodder". " He spoke grinning at the dark hedgehog.

Shadow rolled his eyes and mumbled out a quiet whatever before walking away and walked away from the hedgehog and sat down on a chair. Shadow leaned his head back and took the time to relax. Sonic looked at Shadow he smiled tiredly.

You can't hide the fact you actually do care about me Shadow, but I won't say anything, just know I do appreciate everything you've done. even if you won't accept it... He thought to himself before he let out a long low sigh and laid his head back onto the pillow.

His eyes closed and the hedgehogs took the time to relax and recover. As they stay in the room the lights eventually turned off for the night. The two stayed in this hospital for the next few days to make sure Sonic was mostly recovered.
