"Taking a new step, uttering a new word, is what people fear most."
― Fyodor Dostoevsky,
We rejoin the group, the dude with the mullet and Leaf have already become best friends within like the five minutes we were gone. Glasses kinda just hovers by them listening to the conversation.
"We are back!" I wave in front of Leaf's face.
"Oh hey! Nice." Leaf laughs.
"Why did you guys suddenly just stop running?" Glasses asks.
"Were you making out?" Mullet asks, tilting his head.
"What?!"
"Nah I just snatched their drink." Hanma tilts the can in his hand.
He answered so casually?!? lucky!! My emotions are completely out in the open. I am TERRIBLE at hiding it.
"Do you wish we were?" Hanma teases, leaning on my shoulder.
I literally feel my face burn.
"BAHHAFAFHAHA you should see your face y/n" Hanma bursts out laughing.
"Sure sure." I say while avoiding eye contact.
"So... where are you guys headed?" Leaf asks, miraculously changing the subject. (Thank GOD)
"Not sure we were just hanging out and decided to head back home to Kazu's place." Hanma replies, still leaning on my shoulder taking up space and sipping my drink.
"Could we join you?" Leaf asks.
"WHAT THE FUCK LEAF?!" I try to say through a glare.
"Sure, we weren't planning on doing much so don't count on me to keep you occupied." Kazu (?) replies.
"Can I know your guys names first?" I sigh.
"Mines Kazutora." Mullet says.
"Kisaki." Glasses ads.
"No one asked but mine's Leaf!" Leaf jumps in.
"Hanma."
"Y/n"
"Let's go, I'm tired of standing still." Kisaki wines.
"Whatever you say, Captain!" Hanma laughs.
We walk for a while, maybe about 5-6 blocks and end up at this abandoned parkade. Creepy...
"COOL!" Leaf exclaims.
"You said 'Kazu's' place, why are we here?" I whisper to Hanma.
"His parents' house isn't the most welcoming, so he spends most of his time here." Hanma explains.
"Oh, sorry."
"No it's ok shorty I would be confused also." Hanma squeezes my shoulder. (Ouch.) "I'd never try to do anything weird."
Do I even bother telling him I'm not short? No.
We approach a door at the end of the parkade and Kazutora fiddles with the handle until the door opens.
"Welcome!" Kazutora exclaims, throwing his arms up dramatically.
"Actually... wait one second." Kazutora stops, turning and walking in and shutting the door loudly behind him.
"What-" I start.
"Just wait." Hanma intervenes.
Kazutora comes out with what looked like a crumpled poster and a couple other magazines in his hands.
