Chapter 3: Questions and Investigations

Bea walked along the fabric, button-riddled grass. While she was hoping the picnic would be better than the little ordeal at the construction site, she also thought about how she had just made a grand breakthrough she and Owl had just made during their discovery of Bea's newfound ability to time-travel. 

Mid-way to her destination, she could see someone approaching her in the distance. 

"Hello?" Bea asked as she waved, trying to see who it was, but she couldn't see them due to their strange silhouette. 

Bea's eyes widened when she realized it was Suzette La Sweet but something was seriously wrong about her. Her dress and her shoes were littered with grass and dirt stains, plus some holes, her bows were completely off, she wore way less jewelry than usual, and the biggest sign that something was wrong was that she was on all fours chasing a squirrel while screaming its name.

"Squirrel! Squirrel! Come back here!" Suzzette yelled as she chased the squirrel and ran past Bea, accidentally tripping her. 

Bea got up and looked back at Suzette, still chasing that squirrel, knowing she'd normally squeal and squirm at the very thought of getting a speck dirty, especially considering what had happened back at the tea party she and Jewel invited Bea to. But Bea knew she had a picnic to attend to, so she started walking her way to her original destination despite all the confusion she was feeling right then.

When Bea arrived, she only tilted her head at the sight as more confusion was added to her already growing pile. Pix E Flutters was trying to fly by flapping her arms despite the fact that she could fly with her wings and Patch Treasurechest was looking around nervously as if he was scared of someone taking the picnic basket. 

"Guys? What're you doing?" Bea asked the two.

"I'm trying to fly!" Said Pix with a saddened look upon her face.

"I've been trying all day and nothing has happened!' she said as she looked up to the sky, flapped her arms, and nothing happened so she sighed.

"That's because you're trying to use your arms Pix, your wings are what lets you fly." Bea said as she pointed to Pix's wings.

"I can't, they don't work." Said Pix.

Now Bea was struck with even more confusion than she felt before. Her wings looked just fine, so why was it that Pix said she couldn't use them and that they were broken despite their perfectly fine state?

"Why don't they work? They look perfectly fine to me." Bea said as she walked over and began closely inspecting Pix's wings and as she guessed, there was nothing wrong with them.

"Can you try fluttering them?" Bea asked, unsure of why Pix said her wings wouldn't work.

Pix looked closely at her wings, still seeing the imaginary flaws within them. She then looked back at Bea, keeping her doubtful look.

"What can that do for me? I told you they won't work." Pix asked Bea.

"Not if you don't try." Assured Bea.

Pix looked at Bea, and then back at her wings, eyeing the imaginary flaws. Only this time, she had a slight confidence boost in her ability to fly. She began to get up, and then she attempted flapping her wings. And lo and behold, she took to the skies, rising amongst the clouds. Such a near-impossible sight nearly stole Patch and Bea's breath away, letting out double the gasp.

“THANK YOU BEAAA!!!!” Pix shouted as she attempted to conduct various tricks in the air.

But amongst the strange situation of Bea being utterly flabbergasted at the sight, Patch snuck from behind Bea and as soon as he laid his mitts onto her emerald, he zipped far across Lalaloopsyland away from the doll that would quickly notice the absence of the emerald that caused all the chaos in the first place.

“What the- HEY! Patch, that's my emerald!” Bea shouted to Patch as she quickly jumped to her feet and got up and running towards him.

“SORRY BEA, GOTTA GO!” Patch shouted back, clearly trying to deflect the situation.

And so, the chase was on!
