She made her way to her bed as her father leaned against her desk a click from the door made her head swivel and a slight shiver run through her as her father made his way over to the bed

"When your mother was still here she swore you were different''

He chuckled hollowly

"She reckoned you were destined for more, proved her right didn't you of all the people in here it was you''

Confused, she thought 'This is good right?'

"Isn't this good dad i can stop them we can save the people''

''No you don't know the full prophecy"

"Then tell me?!" She asked slightly more forcefully then she meant but if she was 'the one' doesn't she deserve to know what she's meant to do after a moment of silence he smiled not a happy smile more like fine fuck you

"A child will come with the power to challenge the red,

But to do so the child will find their loved don't make it to the end,

With age the power will grow

Before 16 the power will show"

He had recited it almost like a practised song like he knew this was going to happen but how could he sure it kind of made sense why sammy and her mother had died but her father won't die he can't hed promised sure she was only 8 but her mothers funeral was something she'd never forget and along with it the promise they both meant the world to her first sammy and then her mother her father swore he'd stay he'd stay for her but if everyone she loves is gonna die does that mean him to he couldn't she couldn't live without him strict or not her father was her father he'd been there for her whenever he could and it isn't easy to be a single dad and run an entire base of rebels

She found herself pacing the room stopping she looked at her father his black hair messy from his cap his eyes not as bright as they used to be the bags under them looked almost painful she had almost a million thoughts running through her mind but could only voice one

"I can't lose you"

She was practically whispering as tears fell but her father stood up hugging her tight

"I haven't forgotten my promise and i don't plan on breaking it well manage but were not sticking you into combat just yet ill get someone in the lab to make a power jammer with those brainiacs it'll be easy then we'll just split your practice i saw you today you're amazing and ill do what it takes to make sure we get out ok?"

"Ok i love you dad"

"Love you too Char"

She smiled, hugging him tightly as she did her thoughts slowed, her breath stopped, just knowing he was on her side calmed her as long as her father believed in her, she believed in herself.
