Chapter 21

"Taylor?" he looks surprised

I furrow my eyebrows "you know my name"

"Wyatt talked about you a lot"

I nod my head awkwardly

"i didn't know you guys talked"

he just nods his head and shrugs

holy fuck! i'm talking to the rival captain of the soccer team...and shit he looks so good tonight .

"what are you doing here" I ask tilting my head to the side

"every summer we come here"

"we?"I pinch my eyebrows together

He looks looks over his shoulder, I look past him to see his soccer team staring at us while they talk to Maddi and Chloe. Maddi catches my eye "TAYLORRR" Maddi screams, I laugh as she takes shots with one of the teammates

I bring my attention back to Damon, he's already staring at me examining my face. His expression softens once I look into his brown eyes

"so uh where's Wyatt" He says taking a quick glance around the room

I pick at my thumb "we actually broke up"

his breath hitched

"Taylor im sorry that sucks" he scratches the back of his neck "how are you doing with the breakup"

I look up at him, he seemed genuine "its been hard" I hold back my tears

"your still dating Emily right?" I ask trying to change the conversation

he let out a deep breath "oh ya she's good, she's actually in Paris right now"

I nod taking the last sip of my drink

"shots?" he asks

"sure" I smile

He grabs a trey of shots while I grab another drink and we make our way to the team sitting down on some chairs in the corner. Everyone takes a shot, i can feel the liquor burn as it goes down my throat. They were all talking but I zoned out thinking of Wyatt, Chloe said he had been 'having rebound relationships' im hoping that's not true, I chug down my drink thinking of everything, god I miss him so much. "Taylor?" I hear someone say my name, I look around to lock eyes with Damon he's looking at me with his eyebrows pinched together "are you okay" he whispers, I nod while a fucking tear rolls down my face I couldn't control it. He takes my hand before saying "I think imma head out ill see you guys later" he leads me to the exit, Maddi and Chloe we're too busy dancing to notice I was leaving.

He opens his car door patiently waiting for me to get in. I hop on the seat with my legs still out the car door, he spreads my legs just enough for him to get closer to me "Taylor seriously are you okay" he tucks a piece of hair behind my ear to get a better look at my face

I couldn't hold in my tears anymore "not really" I lay my head in the crook of his neck while he hugs me tight.

He stayed there silently listening to me pour my heart out, he pulled back once I was done talking he wiped my tears away "its going to be okay, people grow apart it doesn't always work out, just wait till you find the one for you" he softly says

I smile glad he actually listened to me "Can you bring me home?" I ask , he nods.

He walks me to the door "thank you" I say unlocking the door "anytime" he smiles. Hesitantly before he leaves I hug him, I didn't realize how much he towered over me until now "Taylor" he practically whispers before he gets interrupted by the door handle being jiggled until it finally opens. Everyone was standing there, even Wyatt.

Carson stepped out closing the door behind him once he realized who was next to me.

"Damon?" Carson looks confused

"hey Carson" he says scratching the back of his head awkwardly

"uhh what are you doing here" Carson looks between us

"he was just bringing me home" I say rolling my eyes at Carson

"and where were you?" Carson tilts his head to the side

"would you stop" I huff

"well I should get going" Damon interrupts

"see you later" Carson waves before taking my arm and dragging me inside, Everyone moved to the couch. I lock eye contact with Wyatt, his face was dull and he was clenching his jaw. I look away before Carson shoos me to my room.
