The morning light filters gently through the window, casting a warm glow across the room as I awaken, determination filling my heart. It is a long and sleepless night, the weight of my decision swirling in my mind. The pros and cons circle like relentless shadows, mapping out the possibilities and potential consequences. The sleepless hours are consumed by the nagging question of whether I can truly make a difference. This is my chance, my way to stand up and change the tide of our country. The thought that I can genuinely make a difference takes root within me, becoming a beacon of purpose. All I have to do is convince my brothers to join me and figure out the logistics.

As I make my way downstairs, a plan crystallizes in my mind, an intricate web of strategies and considerations. I just need to get Harrison and Tobias alone without alerting Ma. That is the first step, then I can plea my case.

The scent of breakfast wafts through the air as I enter the kitchen, a warm and familiar aroma that wraps around me like a reassuring hug. Ma is a whirlwind of activity, her hands moving with the practiced grace of someone who knows this space intimately. The clatter of pans and the sizzle of food on the fire create a symphony of morning rituals.

Seated at the worn wooden table, my brothers are engrossed in their meal, their appetites seemingly insatiable. Ma's eyes dart between them, relief and worry intermingling in her gaze, as she peppers them with questions about their journey. "Isabel, look who decided to sneak in last night."

A mischievous smile plays at my lips, a silent acknowledgement of our shared secret. "I know, Ma," I reply with a wink, "I was just finishing making bread when they wandered in."

"And you didn't wake me up?" Her mock indignation barely hides the amusement in her eyes as she hands me a plate of food. I settle into my usual seat, the warmth of our family gathering enveloping us like a cozy, well-worn blanket.

Breakfast unfolds as a tapestry of shared laughter, questions, and hearty bites. Together, we form a tight-knit unit, each moment cementing the bonds between us. However, as the meal nears its end, the unspoken question lingers in the air like a thread waiting to be woven: what lies ahead? I need to find a way to talk to Harrison and Tobias privately. If Ma were to discover my intention, it could potentially shatter our united front, leaving me isolated and powerless.

As the breakfast dishes are cleared away, Ma gracefully moves towards the fireplace, her every action reflecting a lifetime of practiced efficiency. She glances at the woodpile and sighs, finding it empty. It's at this moment that her sons, Harrison and Tobias, take notice of the situation and instinctively decide to address it.

"Ma, we can go chop some more wood right now," Harrison chimes in, his voice filled with an eager readiness to assist.

Tobias follows up on his brother's offer, nodding in wholehearted agreement. "It won't be a problem at all, Ma."

Ma raises an eyebrow in response, her expression a blend of pride in their willingness to help and concern for their well-being. "You boys just got home. You're probably worn out from your journey. You should rest," she suggests with a touch of maternal concern, her words carrying the warmth of her love.

"We're fine, Ma," Tobias steps closer to Ma, his affectionate nature shining through. As a tender gesture of reassurance, he leans in to kiss her forehead. It's a silent yet profound expression of his genuine concern and love for his mother. With a reassuring smile, he dons his jacket and heads toward the door, followed closely by Harrison.

Harrison, interjects with a touch of humor to lighten the moment. "We expect you to put us to work when we're home, Ma. We won't be freeloaders," he jests, his affectionate tone infusing his words with a sense of familial camaraderie. His lighthearted remark serves to alleviate any concerns Ma may have about them overexerting themselves.
