chapter one

Nini's POV:

when i told ricky to hand out opening night cards for me i genuinely didn't have any plans on showing up to opening night

i knew everything i needed to know about the show

i know they're doing high school musical 3, i know that ricky once again got the lead

seriously how does this keep happening?

i know gina took over my part as gabriella but i can't be too mad, i mean i did leave.

but look, i'm not stupid. i know that ricky and gina are dating and i'm totally happy for them! i mean ricky needed someone as a rebound

and i'm not showing up to opening night to steal ricky back or whatever i just want to come and support my friends! i'm allowed to do that

i'm living my best life out in LA getting to do the thing i love the most, creating music!

except for the fact that i haven't wrote a single decent song since i got here. back in utah i would be able to write multiple songs in a day but something about being away from home makes it hard to write.

which was the conclusion i came up with weeks ago. the following day i talked to my moms and they agreed to let me return back to east high for the second semester of my senior year!

and as we speak i'm currently on a plane to salt lake city to watch my friends perform their hearts out and where i make my announcement that i'm rejoining them for semester two!

Ricky's POV:

i'm gonna do it! i'm gonna tell gina i love her!

i made the mistake of not saying it first last time and i don't want to make that mistake again

i'm going to tell her during intermission and it's going to be perfect! but right now i need to focus on getting ready for now or never

my mom texted me asking if she could bring a plus one and i really don't think i can do another show where she brings her new boyfriend here

i hear the queue for now or never and get out there

the first thing i look for out in the audience is my dad and i see him sitting next to my mom? did i miss something?

but what i don't fail to see is nini sitting on the other side of my dad smiling so widely. i cant believe she made it.

act one flies by and now it's intermission

earlier i asked gina to meet me in the dressing room during intermission so thats where i'm heading now.

as i'm heading there i look down the hallway and i see her

nini looking down at her phone leaning against the wall

i decided in that moment that gina could wait a minute, she wasn't even in the room yet

i walked down the hallway and greeted her and she turned and hugged me. something about the way she hugs made everything i was stressing about go away. nini's always had that effect on me

"i thought you weren't going to come!" i exclaim
"i wasn't planning on it but i thought i'd come support everyone" nini tells me
"well i'm glad you made it! i gave everyone cards, my handwriting isn't the best but i think everyone appreciated the effort" i said smiling

god i missed her

Nini's POV:

god i missed him

up until this moment i just figured ricky would find out about me coming back to east high when i told everyone else but looking at him right now, like as if nothing had changed, if anyone was going to find out on their own, it was going to be ricky.

ricky was always it, i never wanted anyone else

and maybe right here, right now

it could work

"ricky i have something i wanna tell you"
"yeah what's up?"

"i'm moving back to east high for the second semester!" i say excitingly
