A little girl prayed at the close of the day
cause her mommy had gone far far away
I stood there and listened as I heard this prayer
My mommy says "daddy has brought us to shame and I never no more to mention his name"
Lord take me now, lead me, and hold on to my hand Oh heavenly Father please help me understand
You know friends how many homes are broken tonight
Just how many tears are shed by some little words of an angel that should have never been said
I'd like to tell you a story about a family I once knew
We'll call them Mandy and Andrew along with their little daughter Dru
Now Mandy was a plain mother and Andrew was the usual dad
They had their little family quarrels like everyone else but neither ever got mad
One day something happened of course
One word led to another, but the last word led to a divorce
Now here were two grown up people who failed to use common sense
They strengthen their own selfish pride at little Dru's expense
You know she wasn't asked to be brought into this world to drift from pillow to post
But a divorce never stops to consider the ones it hurts the most
There would be a lot more honest lovin in this world today if just a few parting parents could hear little Dru say:
"Take me now, lead me, and hold on to my hand Oh heavenly Father please help me
