The Kind Hufflepuff - Year Two
Chapter Forty- Nine: Bet on Love
---
"What classes should we choose?" Cali fretted to her friends that morning as the rest of the girls were doing last minute packing for the train ride home. "I really want to do Care of Magical Creatures, but I don't know about the other one."
"Cali, everyone knows you want to do Care of Magical Creatures," Daisy giggled. "If you didn't we'd be surprised."
"Ok, but what other classes should we do? Muggle Studies, it seems kind of interesting but I know my parents would throw an absolute fit if they were to find out," Cali hummed.
"They would not react badly," Greta laughed.
"They absolutely would," Cali disagreed.
"Ok, well I don't want to take Muggle Studies anyways," Greta whined.
"What class do you want to take?" Cali questioned.
"A cooking class," Greta shrugged.
"That's an option?" Daisy questioned, and Cali shook her head in response. "What are the options then?"
Cali hummed, reaching for the scroll that she had in her bag and began to read it aloud. "Arithmancy, Ancient Ruins, Care of Magical Creatures, Divination, Muggle Studies..."
"I think Divination sounds cool," Daisy shrugged. "I'm too young for it though."
"You'll have it next year," Greta reassured.
"Arithmancy sounds interesting," Cali mumbled.
"Does it?" Greta wrinkled her nose. "It's an awful lot of mathematics, isn't it?"
"Well, what about you?" Cali sighed.
"Divination sounds fun," Greta shrugged.
"I don't want to take divination," Cali dismissed.
"You do know that you guys don't have to take the same classes next year, right?" Daisy pointed out causing the two Hufflepuffs to look at each other, pondering this statement.
"One class away from each other..." Greta trailed off.
"Can't be that bad, right?" Cali sighed.
"Ok, guess we're taking two separate classes," Greta declared.
"Now that this has been settled, I can't believe this year is already over," Daisy sighed, sitting on her mattress. "I'm going to miss Hogwarts."
"You'll be back," Cali giggled. "Sooner than maybe you'll even realize."
"I don't see how that can be true," Daisy sighed. "This place is so different from home."
"At least you'll have a boy you can owl all summer," Cali teased.
"Yeah, even if he is a weird boy, he's at least an interesting conversationalist," Greta shrugged.
"Oh shush," Daisy rolled her eyes. "I'm just saying, I'll miss it."
"I can't believe a whole year has passed," Cali admitted. "Two years down already."
"Only 5 more to go," Greta cheered.
"That feels so long from now," Cali sighed.
"I can't believe I have to spend my last year without you guys," Daisy whined.
"You'll be fine," Greta assured the girl.
Cali looked out the window, "Oh Merlin! I forgot I was supposed to meet Regulus before we boarded the train!" With that, she quickly grabbed her things, ignoring the howling mewls of Bas who was back inside the crate that he hated so much and ran out the doors.
"How long do you think it'll be before they get together?" Daisy giggled.
"4th year," Greta declared. "He goes on a Hogsmeade trip without her and she'll lose her mind."
"You think it'll take that long?" Daisy hummed. "I'm thinking Christmas this year."
"How much you wanna bet?" Greta challenged.
"5 Galleons?" Daisy shrugged.
"Oh, you're so on. I can't wait to be 5 galleons richer," Greta laughed.
"REGULUS!" Cali shouted excited a few feet from the boy as she finally dropped her things and threw herself into a hug with the boy. Her arms wrapped around his neck as she stood on her tippy toes. "I'm going to miss you this summer," Cali told the boy, her eyes meeting his as he flushed in response.
"We will talk," Regulus promised, hugging the girl tightly before gently placing back onto the ground. "Meet me at a fireplace and I'll always be there."
"Always?" Cali challenged and he nodded his head.
"Always."
The two of them looked out to the Black Lake, "I want to swim in there before I graduate."
"Swim with the Giant Squid?" Regulus asked incredulously, and Cali nodded her head excitedly.
"Ok, well I spent so long waiting for you that I am fairly sure we need to be getting on the train soon," Regulus hummed, grabbing his things before heading towards her to help.
"I'll carry Bas," Cali volunteered. He nodded in response, handing her Bas before picking up everything else. "At least I pack light?"
"This is light?" Regulus deadpanned.
"For a year? Yes," Cali giggled.
"You're lucky you're my best friend," Regulus declared, rolling his eyes before walking towards the Hogwarts Express, effectively ending their first and second year at Hogwarts.
