"He's getting out" Oliver spoke breathlessly.
With those three words, your mind seemingly shut down from the world. The words repeated in your head, a mix of excitement and fear rushing through you.
You hadn't seen him in, well, forever. You had changed, so he must've. Yes, you still felt love for him, you always would. But surely he wouldn't feel the same way, after all this time. Would he?
"Y/N! Did you hear me?" Oliver snapped you out of your train of thought.
"He's getting out?" You asked shakily.
"Yes. He had a parole hearing and they said yes. He's getting released in three weeks." Oliver looked at you in concern.
"Uhm. Can I have a minute?" Oliver nodded, walking over to Pippa to explain the situation.
You sat on the couch, putting your head in your hands. This was a lot to process. What would he be like? He probably hated you. He definitely didn't love you anymore. So much had happened since you last saw him.
This was all too much, emotionally speaking. So, you though logically now.
Where would he stay? How would he act in the normal world now? What about Thneedville? Oh, you had forgotten about that. How would he react when he found out he had a fucking cult? Jesus.
You got up, shaking your head in an attempt to clear your mind. Oliver looked over to you, you noticed a particularly excited looking Pippa. You sighed deeply.
"Y/N, this is good. It will be fine" Oliver said.
"I know, I know. What I don't know is how he's gonna act after all this time. I don't even know how I'm gonna act."
"You wanna go talk about it somewhere else?" You nodded, you needed a drink after this information.
"You gonna be okay here Pip?"
"It's not as if you haven't left me on my own before mom. You go" She smiled at you, assuring you she would be fine. You smiled back at her and grabbed your coat, headed to the bar.
----
"Y/N!! What a nice surprise!" Al smiled, walking over to you with wide arms. He always made you smile.
"What brings you here?" He asked.
"I just needed a drink, you've met Oliver haven't you?"
"Of course! How's the hubby?"
"He's alright thanks."
"Great! What can I get ya?" Oliver gave him his drink order before turning to you expectantly. Al knew your drink order anyway.
"Coming right up!" Al turned to make the drinks, you turned to Oliver with an exhausted expression.
"I know it's a lot to process Y/N."
"Understatement of the year Oliver" You chuckled lightly, attempting to alleviate the tense atmosphere.
"Yeah well, I'm sure it will work out."
"How was he last time you saw him?" Since Oliver had seen him a month back, he was the best person to tell you about who Onceler had become.
"Well, he was excited to see Pippa. He asked about you. He just seemed a bit, fed up."
"That doesn't surprise me. What did he say about me?" You were apprehensive to know about his opinions, but you wanted to know nonetheless.
"Erm. I don't know if it's-"
"Just tell me. I've got tough skin" You urged. Oliver sighed deeply.
"He asked me if you were, sleeping around yet." Unbeknownst to you, he had said something a bit worse than that.
