Third POV

My eyes feel heavy as I look around, everything slowed down and my hearing seemed to be heightened as my breathing seemed to be echoing in my ears. The dark sky above with twinkling stars and the bright full moon stared back at me. Dazed, feeling light headed as my consciousness hasn't full awakened. Suddenly a figure jumps from one tree branch to another, I saw them. Then the crunching sound of leaves being stepped on reaches my ears, somehow I'm able to move my body. Regaining feeling, painful feeling, I roll my body to the side - tried. However I fell back onto my back, hissing in a low tine as I exhale a heavy breathe of air, cold air comes into vision. Hearing another crunching sound adrenaline begins to rush through my veins as I force my body to turn over, laying on my stomach I look up to see nothing but trees and leaves blowing in the wind. Dust gets into my eyes, I shut them while rubbing my eyes. Then i hear another crunch of leaves, this time further away, body trembling in pain, I begin crawling across the forest floor. Though the pain has been fading slowly, dhampirs don't heal as fast as their predecessors. However they age slower than normal humans but faster than vampires. Dragging my body along the floor but with each passing moment, my movements get faster. As my healing abilities finally kick in, I don't heal as fast as a full vampire or blue blood but it's faster than a human. Trick is not get hurt but that move failed me in this situation. Soon I'm crawling on my hands and knees

I try to stand while crawl, my legs wobble as the pain in my body intensifies cause my legs to give way. Falling flat on my hands and knees, however I continue with the crawl. I couldn't be a sitting duck, my predator is still out there. And as of earlier I became prey, I have to find a way to change the table or gain an advantage. Focused on getting to my feet with my legs standing and upper body still bent over, hands touching the ground. I hear crunching leaves, the sound approaching at a speed I couldn't pair with in my current state - I was like a new born baby. I could only stop before a pair of boots stop in front of me... I feel a chill run up my arms. I familiar laugh rings in my head, tickling my ears. I couldn't hear them before due to me being disoriented. But now... In a shaky voice I utter the owner's name or at least try to

Pishka: H-He-!?

A hand grabs my jaw then tightens it's grip. He lifts me up by forcefully raising- pulling my head up till I'm standing at full height. Almost standing on my tippy toes. I look him straight in the eyes, his red pupils staring into my soul. Making me feel like I'm nothing but food to him. That reminds me, earlier when he bit me. Why didn't he react to my blood? Everyone that's drank it has always complained about its poisonous taste. Especially that day

?Hooded figure?: It's been a while child. Why are you shaking? Shhhh

He places his other leather gloves hand over my lips. Closing my eyes out of fear, continues

?Hooded figure?: Won't you say your greetings to the one who turned you into a higher being. I elevated you and made you a swan. Mere mud like you is able to taste a heaven yet your quite the ungrateful one

I glare at him without saying anything. In response to my rebellion he tightens his grip on my face. The pain starting to set in. Grabbing hold of his wrist, trying to make his grip on my face loosen. His red gleaming eyes staring back at me as if to say, 'Aren't you going to say something or do you want me to tear your mouth open again?' Still glaring a death glare at him, I force out a few words from my squished mouth

Pishka: What do you expect me to say to someone you could only perform a half ass job-UHN!?

He immediately squeezes down on my jaw and cheeks, making me unable to speak. He turns his head as he laughs, brushing back his curls. He's light brown skin seeming to glow under the moon light. He throws me to the floor, not as hard as before thankfully. Hoisting myself up and resting on my elbows to stare at my captor. Curled black hair shoulder length, a little chin hair - under the bottom lip - in a triangular shape, just below the bottom lip. He had a slim model like face with high chick bones, he seemed African for someone who grew up in the states and stayed amongst a group of snobby vampires. With a lean tall physique. He still looks the same... Herbert. Turning around with his back to me he drops his hand. Speaking in a tone that had more to say but said less

Herbert: You know I and Miss Lilly did more than just turn you

He turns his head to give me a side eye, taunting me to speak up. And I gave him the satisfaction, not without a fight that is. If planning to play a mind game on me he better be prepared to scream bloody murder. In a questioning and cheeky tone I answer

Pishka: You mean your 'master'?

I can see his body stiffen. I laugh mockingly, he turns to me. Staring at me hard but looks away. His eyes darting about as if looking for something, however he was actually cooling down his inferiority complex. Regaining his composure he looks back at me who has a smirk and sitting up with a knee up and elbow resting on it to rest my head on my hand. I could hear him grunt and grit his teeth before a calculating smile dresses his face

Herbert: No- She's but an ally that I'm working 'with'

The last word holding a hidden meaning but I decide the message his been ignoring or misinterpreting all this time

Pishka: Surrree, you the 'servant' works hard to gain your 'master' some 'credit'. Aren't you a good boy? Putting slavery aside, which I know this is not the case, one would have thought you learnt your lesson when she dumped you for dead with the wolves, or was it the witches or the elves? Or maybe the blood thirsty water nymphs'? But no! Your animal instincts keep bringing you back and 'WORKING' for her! You must be under a spell cause you- ah!

I get jab in the throat, I grab my throat and cough furiously. Fighting to take in air and breathe. He sighs squatting in front of me. He grabs my chin again and forces it up. Talking right into my face with a

Herbert: You know, I personally planned and ordered them to bring your grandmother in but that stupid woman took all the credit in front of the elders! She's such a conniving bi-!

Rolling my eyes then yawning from boredom I try to speed up my approaching death. Anything but being talked to death by my abuser about all the injustices he 'apparently' is receiving

Pishka: Oh well life isn't fair in general. Do remember? That's what you told me when I held her cold body in my arms-... I met you and the Red council, so shouldn't I curse my fate for having met you all

I stare at him, my eyes hardening as my body too stiffens from the mention of my grandmother. He stops and looks at me to see if he got a response but slowed my heartbeat and took on a stoic expression. He shrugs and continues to nag about the injustice his been facing under his 'master's' rule

'His got some nerve. Talking to me about injustice and an unfair fate!?'

I can my blood begin to boil and my heart rate gradually increasing. It skipped a few beats but I exhales to calm it down. Replying sarcastically at the man before to bait him into either killing me or setting me free unknowingly. I begin by mocking his so-called misfortune and daily struggles, after all his stuck with his employer forever

Pishka: Boo hoo your life must be hard

That's ironic since I'm the person his using as a counselling consultant and punching bag at once. His grinning and shameless face looks away as he speaks, his words sounding like he wished to taunt me, to get a reaction out of me

Herbert: I can remember what she said when your grandmother first came, 'Kill her but keep her alive. Make every moment spent breathing as miserable as a single year spent in our torture chambers.' At first she was resilient and took the first two weeks but then...

At the mention of my grandmother my heartbeat quickens He pause, leaving the already existing tension to thicken. When I feel my heart begin to calm down, he decides to continue

Herbert: But when we threatened to kill you-

I pounce on him, in a fit of anger, Straddled on top of him, sitting on his stomach. I scream right into his face and start throwing punches at him like a mad person which I am. With each punch a scream followed. Tears dripping down from my eyes as blood splatters and on my hands, clothes and my favourite part - my face. Teeth gritted and growls emitting from behind my teeth, my right eye glowing a devilish red to the point that red flame like oozes from my eye, flowing upwards

Honestly, I'm not gonna lie. Have you ever thought the things I think in my head scare me. I'm thinking this because I had an aqcantance read a chapter of the story however he told me it was quite dark. Considering the personality people see when they first meet me... It's a contrast
