Aurae's POV:
Everyone was sitting around the table eating, Aurae knew that Maeve had wandered off to give food to Mr. Sour Puss aka Changbin. "So Aurae, tell us about yourself." She looked up from her phone and made eye contact with who she believed was Felix. The blonde-haired boy watched her as he waited for her to answer. She set her phone down on the table before she spoke. "Well, what would you like to know?" Aurae spoke with the sound of mischief in her voice. The boys shared looks with each other, Hyunjin let out a small snicker as if he knew something they didn't.
"Well for starters, are you single?" She laughed wanting to see how they would react to her response that was playing in her head. "Yeah I'm single, no one wants to be with a girl like me who speaks to the dead from time to time." She finished her sentence as she watched the boys. They all froze like deer in headlights."W-What?" One of them muttered out. She busted out in full laughing mode now. "Chill, chill It's a joke...kind of." Aurae finally got out between her laughs. Once everyone had contained themselves again, they went back to eating. Maeve had finally returned as she sat down in one of the empty chairs between Hyunjin and Chan. "What's everyone talking about?" Maeve asked as she reached for the fruit that was left. Aurae said nothing as she looked at her, a small mischievous chuckle left her body.
"Oh, nothing.. Hyunjin was it?" She asked as she glanced at the boy who sat angled from herself. He nodded his head at her in response. "He was just asking if I was single, so I told him how I speak to the dead." Maeve just gave her that look. "You can't-" She started to scold Aurae as she pinched the bridge of her nose before letting out a sheepish laugh. "She works in a museum and sometimes gets mummies and such along with also running a haunted museum," Maeve explained and Aurae just gave her a sour look. "Tsk, way to ruin the fun Mooooom." She made sure to exgraderate the word mom.
"Don't tsk me." Maeve was really sounding like one now. Aurae couldn't help but chuckle at her statement. "So Aurae, what do you like most about your job?" Chan asked looking deeply at her. Aurae moved her attention from Maeve to him. Their eyes met each others. "Hmmm I would say it's about seeing the looks on people's faces when you tell them about the facts. My favorite is when we get kids in when I'm rotating museums. They think it's so cool when we get to tell them about the Spartans and Vikings." Chan was watching her closely, taking in every word she spoke. It was clear there was something about her that made him interested. He just nodded his head for her to continue on.
"But when I work the haunted museums the reactions we get is amazing. Some think it's a boring job walking around giving tours and such but I find the joy in teaching people about the richness of history and the cool facts I've learned or heard from archeologists." She finally finished her explanation, her eyes never left his. It's like they was the only two in the room. The sound of someone clearing their voice, caused them to break away from each other. The boys and Maeve was just staring at them. The sound of heavy footsteps was heard as everyone looked up. It was Changbin, he was walking into the kitchen with an empty plate.
Aurae noticed a small smile on Maeve face as she watched him. Setting his plate in the sink as he sat down in the empty seat beside her. Aurae couldn't help but glare at him. His body language hasn't changed, he was still cold with his arms crossed over his chest. "Nice of you to come out of your cave and join us Mr. Grumpy Gills." Her voice was harsh towards him. The silence was thick enough it could slice through glass. She got nothing but a 'humph' in return from him.
Aurae was about to say something more but Maeve stopped her. "Moonie don't." She pleaded with her through puppy eyes. Letting a groan out, deciding to bite her tongue. She didn't understand why Maeve was letting him act this way towards herself or even her. All she could do was shake it off for her best friend. "Mae, can I speak to you in private?" Aurae asked already standing looking at her best friend. Maeve looked at her confused but stood and motioned for her to follow.
Maeve lead her down the hallway and into a bedroom that was slightly messy. "Geez Mae, you ever clean your room?" She questioned with her eyebrow raised as she looked around. "It's Han's room not mine...well sort of mine? My boss assigned us as roommates." Maeve spoke as she shrugged her shoulders at the end. Sitting down on the bed, patting the spot beside her. "So what's up?" She asked Aurae out of curiosity.
"Dude what gives? Why do you let him act that way towards you?" You clearly could hear the concern in her voice. Maeve just looked away and down at the floor. "Mae, come on tell me." Aurae demanded. She watched her friend for an answer. Maeve let out a small sigh. "Fine, but don't judge me okay." Her eyes were soft as she finally looked at her. Aurae just nodded her head in a way to tell her she won't.
Maeve face was slowly turning a light shade a red. "It's just.." Her words trailed off for a second. "I might have a crush on him." Maeve face bright red now as her Aurae looked at her shocked. Did she actually hear that right? That Maeve said she liked that asshole? She just stood there trying to process what she was just told. "W-What? H-How?" Was all she managed to get out. Maeve flopped back on the bed and groaned. "I know, I know. I still don't fully understand myself." A hint of confusion was in her voice.
Aurae was happy for her that she actually had let herself like someone again. Yet again she was also questioning her choice in letting herself fall for this guy. She didn't know what it was that she saw in him, or how he acted when it was just them. She wants Maeve to be happy but can this guy really be the one to do that?
