Apology?

"What the hell is going on here? I yelled.

My brain was not comprehending what I saw.

They were-

What?

Amanda gave me a death glare. "Exactly what it looks like. Now, if you don't mind, LEAVE. You're just jealous I have a boyfriend and you don't, ugly loser."

Did she say boyfriend?

I thought back to what Luna said. Amanda had broken up with her boyfriend, and she liked Austin. It all made sense. She had probably asked him out or something. So much for apologizing to him.

I did what I felt was best in that given moment.

I put on a fake smile. "Well, I hope you two are happy together. I'll be going"

As I said that, I exited the class. I secretly hoped someone else would walk in on them.

Something wasn't right here...

Amanda definitely did something.

It has been two months since I caught Amanda with Austin. She went around telling everyone they were dating; however, Austin never said anything. Maisie, Hailey, and Niki eventually went back to sitting with Luna and I. I gave them their apology gifts and begged them not to be mad at me. Luckily, they forgave me and now we're all friends again.

I never got a chance to apologize to Austin.

I was getting ready to leave, when Maisie came up behind me.

"Are you busy after school?" She asked.

"No, why?" She only asks me that when she wants me to go somewhere with her.

"So... I kind of sort of got back with Jacob... and we're meeting at the park today"

"You did WHAT?!" I exclaimed. A few people turned to look at us. I lowered my voice. "Sorry, but you actually got back with him?"

She nodded. "I did"

"Maisie, I understand that you really liked him, but isn't it time to move on?" I asked. "In all seriousness, does he still feel the same way? Or did you force him into it?"

Maisie looked shocked. "I didn't! It's...complicated"

"Complicated?" I asked. "Fine, just tell me later. Anyway, you want me to third wheel you and Jacob again?"

She nodded: "Exactly"

I was a bit hesitant. I didn't exactly always like third wheeling them. Maybe things would be different now.

Eventually, I sighed. "Fine, I'll go"

Maisie smiled. "Thanks! If you don't want to feel lonely, you can just bring your boyfriend"

I rolled my eyes. "Is this your way of making fun of me?"

"Come onnn! Don't you think it's time?"

Absolutely not. I never wanted to have a boyfriend or even see another boy again. Unfortunately, I knew that probably wasn't going to happen. Maisie had even tried to set me up on blind dates in the past. I feel kind of bad for the guys who waited at restaurants only for me not to show up.

"I think that I'll just go myself. I'm not bringing anyone"

Maisie always talked about how fun double dates would be, but I had absolutely no interest whatsoever.

Maisie and I arrived at the park. Jacob was sitting on a bench with a VERY familiar face next to him.

Austin.

I wanted to run away. I could fake being sick, suddenly pass out, just run, make unexpected plans, anything.

"Maisie" I whispered. "I don't think this is a good idea" I turned around to leave, but she grabbed my arm.

"Sienna, don't be a chicken" she said.

If there is one thing I refuse to be, it's a chicken.

"Fine. I'll stay" I said. "But you owe me after this"

"Deal" Maisie replied.

We walked over to Jacob and Austin were.

"Hi guys!" Maisie said.

Maisie and I sat down as well.

I tried to avoid eye contact with Austin. I felt his eyes on me.

I tuned out Maisie and John's conversation. Last I remember, they were talking about plans for next week or something.

I focused my attention on the birds in a nearby tree. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Austin staring at me. I never had the chance to apologize to him, since he was always with Amanda.

Maybe it was finally time I apologize. I can't let Amanda intimidate me that much.

I opened up my notes app. That app is where I rant about anything and everything. I had a note entitled "APOLOGIZE TO AUSTIN ASAP OR YOU WILL REGRET IT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, SIENNA"

Super creative.

I leaned over to whisper to Maisie.

"Can you and Jacob go somewhere else just for a little bit? I'm going to apologize to Austin"

Maisie smiled. "Sure, we'll just leave you two alone!"

She sounded way too happy about that.

I watched as Maisie went with Jacob to the swings.

I suddenly felt light headed, but I ignored it. I had better things to do. As much as I tried to ignore it, I was extremely nervous. I could hear my heart beating. Looks like I haven't gotten over my social anxiety just yet.

"Listen, Austin" I started, making sure I had his attention. "I just wanted to apologize about what happened two months ago. You know, with the punching? I'm really sorry and I don't know what possessed me to do that."

I looked over to see his reaction. I couldn't quite read it. He looked confused, but then he also looked relieved? I had absolutely no idea what he was thinking.

I avoided eye contact because I didn't want to make anything awkward. Plus, I was already anxious.

"It's okay" he eventually said.

"Are you sure?" I asked
