THEN

From 2.02 "Everybody Loves a Clown", in the Roadhouse, Ness, Catty, Sam and Dean looked around the empty saloon.

From 2.02 "Everybody Loves a Clown", in the Roadhouse, Ellen and Jo had their guns pointed at Sam and Dean.

Jo looked at Ness. "Who are these guys?"

"Sam, Catty and Dean Winchester," Ness answered. She looked at Ellen. "John's kids."

Ellen lowered her gun, chuckling. "Hey, I'm Ellen." She nodded to her daughter. "This is my daughter, Jo."

From 2.02 "Everybody Loves a Clown", in the Singer House, in Ness' room, Catty played the message on John's phone for Ness.

Catty: (voice over from 2.02 Everybody Loves a Clown) "You called our dad, said you could help."

From 2.02 "Everybody Loves a Clown", in the Roadhouse, Catty looked at Ellen. "Help with what?"

"The Demon, of course," Ellen answered.

From 2.01 "In My Time of Dying", in the empty room, Tessa/The Demon turned to face Dean, her eyes glowing yellow.

From 1.22 "Devil's Trap", in the cabin, John/The Demon had yellow glowing eyes.

From 2.01 "In My Time of Dying", in the boiler room, The Demon looked at John with yellow glowing eyes, intrigued.

Catty: (voice over from 2.02 Everybody Loves a Clown) "Who are you? How do you know about all this?"

From 2.02 "Everybody Loves a Clown", Ellen spoke to the others. "Hey, I just run a saloon. Hunters have been known to pass through now and again, including Ness here and your dad a long time ago. John was like family once."

From 2.02 "Everybody Loves a Clown", in the carnival, Sam, Catty and Dean walked along.

"You think Dad and Ellen ever had a thing?" Sam asked.

"No way," Catty answered.

"Then why didn't he tell us about her?" Sam asked.

From 2.02 "Everybody Loves a Clown", in the Singer House, in Ness' room, Ness explained to Catty. "Ellen Harvelle. She'd married a hunter way back when. He died. She and her daughter Jo picked up a few tricks along the way."

From 2.02 "Everybody Loves a Clown", in the Roadhouse, Dean and Ness were sitting at the table next to the window.

"They're not technically hunters," Ness told him. "But they're kind of on the border. They like to be prepared."
