That Summer Without You

One summer month I met you
I knew right then that you were too good to be true
Clear blue skies and ice cream in my hand
Wearing white T-Shirt and blue jeans; and I was like, "dang! "
I looked at you through my bedroom window
You looked away and held your head low
That summer without you, I could never imagine how my life would've turned out to be

I saw you on the beach along with all your friends
And when you came up to me, the world made no sense
You've got the prettiest eyes and a butterfly smile
Getting used to you being so close to me, took quite a while
I used to wonder, "When someone says my name, would your face glow?"
"If a girl asks for your number, would you nod your head 'no' ?"
That summer without you, I'd have ended up as a completely different person

And suddenly you were no longer just a friend
I guess it was pretty obvious that I liked it that way
I didn't really care how or when it would end
As long as it was with you, I was glad to stay
You've crashed over several times at my place
Thorugh those walls no one could pry into our space
That summer without you, baby, I'd rather die

Years thence, it was pretty clear as to how things had become
We both knew it weeks before, that we had changed
It is always sad when something special has an end to come
Pretending to be strangers everytime we see each other, feels strange
Nevertheless, the days I spent with you feel like fond fantasies
You are my favorite mistake, that gives me ecstasy
That summer with you is something that cannot be explained with all the words in the dictionary
