everyone was tired of how rough dean was being, and goldberg had enough. he started skating, saying something about how he'd take care of him, which made arabella scoff in disbelief.
everyone started to get together and argue, and arabella was currently just standing on the side, not wanting to start any problems. she was usually one of the best arguers, but she didn't want to show that side on her first time meeting these people. she got tired of standing and sat against the boards, laughing at everyone's arguments.
she wasn't able to enjoy the fights anymore because bombay blew his whistle, telling everyone to freeze. the arguments quickly stopped, and they all turned to face him. arabella knew he was going to start his long speech, so she stayed sitting. "we didn't come here to fight. we came here to play hockey!"
"yawn." arabella rolled her eyes.
bombay continued, "we're team u.s.a., you represent your country."
the man beside bombay, (what was his name?), agreed with coach, which made arabella raise an eyebrow. but bombay kept talking, and arabella thought she was going to die of boredom. what a great first meeting this is. "now i want you-"
the man cut bombay off, finishing his sentence. "to be all that you can be! right?"
bombay obviously was starting to get annoyed, but he didn't say anything. arabella wondered how long he could last. the man continued to talk, looking at bombay every few seconds. "you gotta raise yourself up, guys! you got-"
once he saw bombay's expression, he paused, which made everyone laugh a little. coach took his silence to state that they were going to have a scrimmage, and when he was about to blow his whistle, the other man blew it for him.
that was obviously bombay's breaking point, as he looked at the man with annoyance. he obviously got the message, saying he had to leave because he had an appointment with miss mackay, who was apparently the teams tutor.
as he was walking away, coach called him back. "don?"
"don? what kinda name is that?" arabella mumbled to herself. she was still sitting on the floor, so everyone else was behind her.
bombay took don's whistle, saying he would get it back after the season ended. bombay then told the ducks to show them what they got, then blew the whistle.
arabella let out a groan. she didn't want to get up yet. "can i just sit here? i'll be a ref."
coach shook his head, so arabella stood up and pretended to call things, like a ref did. she deepened her voice and started pointing at people. "number 44! penalty for not paying the 2 dollars you owe me! 96! penalty for being coach's favorite!"
charlie turned around and stuck his tongue out at her as a joke, and she did the same action back, laughing to herself.
bombay called arabella's name and told her to get on the bench already, seeing as they already had the first line. dwayne and jesse were against each other at the faceoff, and dwayne smiled at jesse.
poor boy.
"great day for hockey, ain't it?" he asked with enthusiasm.
jesse, being the sarcastic person he is, replied back with fake happiness. "sure is, cowboy!"
jesse got what was coming to him when dwayne skated through him, making jesse do a somersault. still on the bench, arabella started laughing, and what happened next made her laugh even more. dwayne had passed the puck to luis, who glided past everyone. he was about to score, but he ran into goldberg and the net because he couldn't stop.
