" 'Cause I was there when you said 'forever and always'. "

Keira woke up, her hair spread on her face with the loud echoes of snores coming from somewhere in the room. She sat up, getting a head rush as her eyes adjusted to the lighting. There were quite a lot of people scattered across the room, people sleeping on sofas, some even on the floor, others on tables.

Wanting a shower and to get out of her tight costume, Keira got up from the sofa slowly, taking her heels off that she'd slept in. The bright daylight in the corridor blinded her for a couple seconds after opening the large doors, as she closed the door behind her, she looked to her left hearing footsteps.

And there stood James in his Quidditch uniform, a caught of guard look on both of their faces, not expecting that they'd be in any space together alone. Not in a very long time, at least. Keira didn't know what to say, James didn't either, but the words came out of his mouth, coming from the caring part of him, no matter who it is he's asking.

"Did you sleep in there?" He asked, his voice felt foreign on her ears from not hearing him speak to her in so long.

She felt speechless for a second, opening her mouth to speak but nothing could come out, "Yeah." She squeezed out of her, knowing she had to say something. They looked at each other for a couple seconds, neither knowing what to do next, "I'm... going that way." She pointed her thumb to the direction behind her.

"Yeah," James nodded, "Same."

They started walking, Keira walking slowly because of the pain in her feet from her heels held in her hand allowed James to catch up to her. The two walked in silence for about a minute.

"So," James cleared his throat, "How have you been?"

Keira nodded, "Not bad, you?"

James felt a pang that she said she'd been okay. Of course, he didn't want her to not be okay, but he was hurt that she seemed perfect fine. Obviously, he wasn't going to admit how hard he'd been finding their breakup, so he lied too, just like Keira did.

"Yeah, been okay." Keira nodded at him. "I noticed you haven't been hanging out with all of us that much since... Well."

"Yeah," She answered quickly, "I don't know, I've been busy with school and everything."

"I just don't want you to be avoiding all of us because of me." James said honestly.

Keira sighed, "Well, it was kinda awkward, but no, nothing personal. It's purely just, I don't know, poor time management I guess." Keira laughed awkwardly at the end of her response.

"I guess now you have all the time in the world to do work." James said. It came out kind of backhanded and he didn't mean to but at the same time, he was a little offended that she'd been doing so well.

Keira didn't know what to say for a second, she didn't know if she should take his comment to heart or not. But, being hungover with a headache and foot pain from wearing heels all night puts you in a moody attitude.

"Wow, okay." Keira ran her hand through her curled hair as she scoffed lightly.

"I just mean now you don't have anything else holding you back from throwing yourself head first into something."

Keira stopped walking, "Just because I don't have a boyfriend anymore doesn't mean I don't have a social life anymore."

"Oh yeah I forgot, you and that older guy getting close with each other last night. How long will that last? A month?" James said coldly.

Keira was shocked at the person she was talking to, never had James - sweet, caring, and kind James - been so rude to her or anyone else she'd seen him speak to before.

"Wow, you know what, I felt bad for you and everything I made you put up with but if this is how you're acting nowadays then I don't. Actually I feel bad for your friends." She crossed her arms.

"You don't know shit about me, Keira." James scoffed, shoving his hands into his pockets of his coat.

"Clearly i don't, because the James I knew would know better than to act they way you are." Keira started walking again.

"Don't act like you're such a saint either." James followed her.

Keira turned around, confused as to what he meant. "Excuse me?"

"Leading Thompson on the way that you did? Just because you knew I liked Lily at the time."

"Yeah, maybe I should've just stuck with him. I would've if I knew how we were going to turn out." Keira started walking again, James staying put, after a few steps she turned around, "You know what, just do both of us a favour and stay away from me." She said before walking and turning around a corner, James stayed stood for a bit, angry at her, angry at what he'd said, what she had said, and at the world that this is where he was in life; arguing with his ex-girlfriend at 6am on a Saturday.

James quickly stormed off to Quidditch practise. He usually tried hard at practise, not wanting to fall behind. But today was different, he was aggressive, throwing the ball at his teammates harder than necessary, flying quicker on his broom, and getting angry at mistakes him and his teammates made.

By the end of practise everyone was avoiding him, people changed quickly, leaving just him in the changing room.

He stood by his locker for a moment, on the door when opened was a picture of him and Keira, he kept it up for nostalgia, but now when he looked at it he felt angry. He ripped it off the tape he used to stick it up, ripping it in two, rolling it into a ball, and throwing it into the bin.

"James!" He heard Remus call after hearing the changing room door open.

"What?" He called out.

"Hogsmeade?" Remus replied.

"Shit, yeah." He closed the locker door, going to the door where Remus stood with Lily.

"You alright?" Remus asked as they started walking, James in the middle of the two.

"Yeah. I'm fine." James said simply, putting his hands in his pockets of his coat.

"Okay, I need to get more quills when we get there, anyone want to come with?" Lily asked.

"Sorry Lils, lost a bet with Sirius so I have to watch him browse the shelves of Honeydukes for an hour." Remus said.

"That's okay." Lily said, smiling at Remus.

"I'll go." Said James, smiling down at Lily.
