Mending Armor (Fang x Trip fanfiction)

Chapter 2: Battling Reunion

In Northstar Island, multiple animals, big and small were happily playing, minding their peaceful lives. Somewhere near the forest, a female armored Sungazer Lizard with a round pendant can be seen planting another pink bellflower to her field. It was none other than Trip, and she recently just returned from a visit to Sonic and Friends to celebrate their anniversary together. And like every year, they have the kindness to give her another pack of gifts; a pair of running shoes from Sonic, an communicator device from Tails, a new dress from Amy, and another beautiful gemstone from Knuckles for her collection.

As she planted another bellflower seed in the ground, her pendant glowed green and the bellflowers grew. She looked at her work satisfied while a few animals and a giant flicky approached her excitedly, wanting to play. She happily hugged them as the giant flicky picked them up and began tossing them in the air and catching them with a smile on its face before proceeding to give them a hug that was happily returned. With friends who love her and new adventures on her rich island every day, Trip was living the perfect life, living peacefully on her home.

Suddenly, her scanner device began beeping, and she checked to see a dot approaching on one of the island's beaches. Not wasting another moment, she excused herself from her animal friends, grabbed her spear and rushed to the source, sensing a potential intruder on the islands.

Fang drove his Marvelous Queen through the fields of the island, being cautious to his surroundings. Earlier, he thought about his conversation with the other members of Team Hooligan, and ultimately decided to finally take his chances and used a solo bounty hunt as an excuse to go to the Islands.

"A'right. Let the hunt begin." He told himself as he accelerated the Marvelous Queen through the lush greenery and before long, he encountered a pair of giant animals who were minding their business. Learning from his first mistake on the island, he decided to leave them be, fully aware that they might not be too happy to see him. He suddenly heard a twig snap nearby and instinctively launched a net installed on his vehicle to the source of the noise, only to realize that he accidentally captured a few animals that were working together to carry a few fruits.

"Whoops. Sorry, lads. Thought you were somethin' else." As he got off the Marvelous Queen and approached them to remove the net, a spear whooshed clean on top of the net that was keeping it together, freeing the animals. Fang looked around in confusion and before he could react, a magma ball dashed on him, sending to a nearby tree. Groaning, he slowly got up and saw that the magma ball was none other than Trip, and her pendant was now glowing red, as she grabbed her spear on the ground and pointed behind for the animals to run, her helmet not taking her eyes off of the Jerboa as he got back up and adjusted his hat.

"Heh. Don't suppose you're here to talk, are you, love?" He asked with a confident smile. The Sungazer didn't answer and her pendant glowed blue, and multiple clones of herself charged at him, who quickly evaded by using his tail to bounce off.

Trip's pendant then glows purple and hidden platforms appear, allowing her to maneuver through the air with ease. Fang, impressed by her agility, realized that he underestimated her once again. As he continued to dodge her attacks, he couldn't help but admire her determination and skill. It was clear that Trip had grown stronger over the years, and Fang couldn't help but feel a mix of admiration and regret for the way he had treated her in the past.

"Alright lad." He spoke to himself. "You gotta focus. Learn from your past mistakes. Don't underestimate her. Wait for the perfect time to shoot!" He quickly saw an opening and pulled out his blaster and pulled the trigger. Trip's pendant then glowed yellow, and time slowed down for her, giving her more time to react and evade the shot before she pounced on Fang, both tumbling around as she attempted to disarm him.
