AS MIZUKI GRADUALLY AWOKE, the familiar sight of Sunghoon's quarters greeted her eye.
'I see you're finally awake,' a voice, unfamiliar to her, remarked.
Her eye shifted towards the individual seated on a nearby chair, evidently posted as a guard. The person observed her with crossed arms, an unspoken vigilance in their demeanor.
Swinging her legs over the side of the bed, Mizuki sat up, a soft hiss escaping her lips. Frustration simmered within her. Luke's safety was a solace, but her current predicament left her restless and resolute. Bruises adorned her arms, a result of the fall she had endured — falling from a horse struck by gunfire tended to leave its mark.
Stretching her body, Mizuki summoned the strength to rise, a shaky breath escaping her lips as she swayed slightly in her attempts to stand. The remnants of her captivity clung to her—she was still garbed in the same dress.
'I've heard a lot about you, Mizuki,' a voice, previously unfamiliar, intoned.
Her disdainful gaze flickered down to the speaker. 'Who are you?'
'Jiung.'
'And?' she pressed, seeking more than just a name.
His chuckle resonated through the chamber. 'I belong to the crew known as P1Harmony. Your Captain paid us handsomely to spy on you. Perhaps you're acquainted with some of my comrades, Stephen and Theo?'
Recognition flashed in Mizuki's eye. Traitors. 'How embarrassing, to be lapdogs to Sunghoon,' she remarked, her tone laden with mockery.
Jiung, incensed by her words, abruptly stood, fury flickering in his eyes as Mizuki's own eye danced with amusement.
'Look at you,' she taunted. 'Does a woman's words always rouse such ire in you?'
Swallowing her pain, Mizuki summoned an air of resilience, standing tall and poised. She departed Sunghoon's chambers, uncertain of the liberties granted to her, yet determined to feign control and suppress any outward signs of fear.
Her gaze traversed the surroundings, a palpable sense of dread washing over her. Hours had been spent eluding them, only to find herself ensnared once more. Her eye fell upon Jake, their gazes locking momentarily, an enigmatic expression etched on Jake's countenance. Before further insights could be gleaned, Riki interposed himself in her line of sight.
She scrutinized him with a discerning eye. 'You let me go back then,' she remarked, a tinge of curiosity colouring her words. 'Why?'
Riki, nonchalant, offered a shrug. 'Because the captain's obsession with you bothers me. Perhaps if I allowed you to escape, you'd exhibit some semblance of intelligence and conceal yourself. Instead, you bask in luxury, presenting an easy target.'
'Where are you taking me?' Mizuki pressed for answers.
Riki cooed, his touch grazing her cheek gently. 'To your death, of course.'
