She had not been able to sleep, she was excited to go to high school, a new city where she would soon start looking for a record label she wanted to produce, she missed her grandmother, but she knew she would be proud to see her getting closer to fulfill her dream.

The sun was not yet up, but she was ready, she was looking forward to hearing the sound of her alarm and having breakfast with her parents, she wanted to be on time, make lots of friends, she had always dreamed of being popular.

Her parents accompanied her, something she didn't agree with, because she thought she was old enough to take the school bus, she walked confidently to the classroom and took a seat in the last row next to a red-haired girl who smiled at her, shortly after a tall blonde boy arrived who looked as lost as she was, he took a seat in the first row in front of the blackboard.

The sound of heels clicked and a woman with long blonde hair closed the classroom door, attracting the attention of the teenagers.

"Good morning, class, I'm Professor Miller, your math teacher, you all know me, but we have two new students in our class. Joseph and Taylor would like to come to the front and tell us about yourselves." Taylor loved to talk in front of people, Joe not so much.

"I'm Joseph, I think you already know that, but you can call me Joe, it's shorter, I'm from London, I moved here last month" he said a little embarrassed.

"I'm Taylor, I'm from Pennsylvania, I also just moved here, I love cats and country music" She finished with a smile

"Thank you guys for introducing yourselves, you can go back to your seats."

The class went on, being completely boring for Taylor that as much as she tried to pay attention it all seemed so incomprehensible, she watched as each of her classmates did their homework without problems, what wasn't a problem for her was writing songs, so the math class had been perfect to finish one of them.

The red-haired girl in the seat next to her had invited her to join her table at lunch, she seemed so nice as well as being quite popular with the beautiful boys.

Joe on the other hand was in the library, he had started his homework so that when he got home he could help his younger brother with his, his parents wouldn't be home until dinner time and his older brother Tom seemed to be in a bad mood all the time.

The bell rang announcing that lunch was over, so he stuffed his stuff in his backpack and headed to the living room, he was right behind the new girl, she really was cute, he had been charmed by her since he saw her smile as she introduced herself.

"He really looks like a complete fool" he heard the redhead say just as he passed by her place, so Taylor just laughed.

Classes ended, and her father was already waiting for her in front of the school entrance. Inside the car was already her annoying older brother Austin, anxious that this year would pass quickly, and he could go to university, she would have the house to herself.

Her cat greeted her when she got to her room, she threw her backpack in a corner and then went downstairs, because her mother was already waiting for them with the food ready, after thanking, her brother she talked about how popular she was with the girls.

"I made a friend, her name is Abigail" She interrupted.

"Couldn't you wait for me to finish talking?"

"You had taken too long"

"Do you always have to be so annoying? That's why you only have one friend, no one can stand you, soon Abigail will be gone, and you will be alone again, you have such a squeaky voice that you will ruin people's ears when they hear you talk"

Taylor got up from the table with tears flowing down his cheeks, he slammed the door shut, leaving his parents arguing with his older brother. As he walked through the neighborhood he came across a familiar face, Joe or as Abigail had called him, the nerd, he had been staring at him until a voice brought him out of his thoughts.

"Hi Taylor, I didn't know you lived around here"

"Joe, hi, yeah, just a few streets away, so I decided to go out and get acquainted."

"Maybe one day we can, you and I can get together to eat, talk and do homework-He shoved his hands in his pockets to hide his nervousness."

"Oh yes, possibly, one day, I don't know if my parents will let me, you're a complete stranger."

"You were crying?" he said as he looked at her carefully

"I'd better go, my parents must be worried" He smiled nervously, and she rolled her eyes as she watched him leave.
