School started up at the end of August, and I was expecting it to be like last year—nothing exciting, with lockdowns almost every day, fewer field trips, and teachers who didn't respect us as much. But then I met my ELA teacher, and something about her caught my attention right away. She was intelligent, confident, respectful, caring, kind, outspoken, and unique in so many ways. Others may have seen her as a horrible teacher like any other, but that didn't stop me from wanting to know more about her. I would go up to her every day at lunch, during prep, or even in the morning and at the end of the day. I just found her really interesting, and I wanted to understand what made her so special. Day by day, I've gotten to know her better. I've been helping her in her classroom during lunch, and I always ask about my behavior because I want her to see me as a good person, not just a goofy or bad one. I felt as if I was bothering her and got hate comments almost every day so I stopped going up to see her and see how she was doing.
