chapter 1: he is dead, maybe.

He was dead. The man that I loved was dead. Leo Valdeze was dead. We had gotten engaged 2 days before they left for the argo 2. The next day we got married. I am 16 but we knew we were meant to be together. When he had asked I immediately said yes and when he suggested us getting married the next day I was in. i knew my brother would be sad to miss it but i also knew as had happened there was a chance he would not survive. How I found out was Percy coming to hogwarts. He had walked in at breakfast and I had been looking at the door waiting for when leo would walk in. He had promised me right when he had come he would come to Hogwarts and he would take me on a honeymoon. I looked at my food for a moment and then looked back up. I did not see who I had wanted to see though. "Percy, what are you doing here?" my mind was racing. Why was Leo not here? "I need to talk to you and it is something I can't put in a letter." "What do you mean? What happened?" I asked. my voice was becoming more panicked with every word I had said. "It is Leo, he did not make it. He gave Jason this letter and told him to tell you he loves you." I had started to walk towards Percy before he had said that but when he said those words I fell to my knees. Percy ran over to me and hugged me. I sobbed into his shoulder clinging onto him. He handed me the letter and it said:

Dear my beloved hermione,

I am sorry that I broke my promise. We will never be able to go on that honeymoon. We will never be able to have children together. I wrote this letter just in case I was praying to the gods that I could burn it and we would be able to live our life together. I never got to give you a wedding ring or an engagement ring. There should be one in the envelope so at least you will have one. I am sorry I was not able to give it to you. I love you and I hope to see you in the afterlife.

I smiled at the end and dropped the ring into my hand. It was beautiful and had my beloved engraved into it. I put it on my ring finger. I loved him. I let out another sob. "He was in his forge for days to make sure he would make it perfect and just talk about you and how he was hoping you would love it and that he would get to give it to you. I Could tell he loved you and how Annabeth talked about you two. You loved him too." percy said. "I need to talk to you in private percy i i don't think i can tell anyone else now. Now that he is dead." when i said that professor mcgonagall ushered us to her office. "I will leave you guys here as long as you want. You are excused from classes for the week." she said then left. "Mione, what do you need to tell me? "" I I I am pregnant." I said I looked down scared for his reaction. "Oh Hermione, I am so sorry. I will help in any way I can. I will always be there for you.' percy said. I hugged him and sobbed "thank you i was so scared but they will still not have a father for all there life." he sighed and said i know but how about we go for a swim?" I agreed and we walked to the lake. :"So how far along are you?" percy asked. "Three months you are the only one I have told. I am starting to get a bump in a couple of weeks. I will not be able to cover it anymore." I said. He sighed "yeah" he sighed and then perked up "we'll race you to the lake" he screamed. I took off after him laughing. We played at the lake until lunch time. We walked up the hill linking arms. "I am starving," I exclaimed. "Of course you are, you are eating for two." Percy laughed. I shoved him and we walked into the entrance hall. I dragged him to the gryffindor table and we sat down. I had piled my plate high when Harry and Ron arrived. I waved at them and Harry saw my ring finger first "what is that?" "oh um well i didn't tell you guys but I got married this summer and my husband died a couple of days ago. Percy actually just came here to tell me and give me a letter that had this ring in it. And I guess you could say it is the only thing I have left of him." I said , fighting back tears. "Oh wait I forgot to tell you he gave his tool belt to jason to give to you i did not want to give it to you now so when we go back to camp it is all yours. You might have to fight some of Leo's siblings for it though they want it too. The only reason they won't take it is that Leo left it for you." percy said. I laughed, "yay I got the thing he loved almost as much as me. It was a running joke between us that he loved it more though." I said. "Wait, you got married and didn't even think of asking us to come or even tell us who, plus would let you get married when you are 16." hay yelled. "I will be 17 next week plus in his world when you come of age you're dead already. Also he asked me then we got married the next day I did not have time to tell you i was too busy planning it. It was pretty simple though I just got a white dress and that was kind of it. I did not want anything big. He was also leaving the day after we got married. I only had a night with him." I yelled back. "I didn't even get to go and I'm her brother. I am still mad about that Mione. But under the circumstances I will forgive you this once." percy said while pecking my cheek. I laughed and said "percy you always know how to deescalate a situation. Well I am finished. Come on Percy, let's go to the library. I have this book I want to show you." I said then started to drag him to the library. "Wait, Hermione, I am not done yet, let me finish eating." He said. I sighed then let him go back to finish eating. I planted down beside him and laid my head on his shoulder. "Instead if you want to go to the lake i want to show you something there then we will go to the library." I said. "Of course Mione I will go wherever you want but first Dumbledore wants to talk to me. He said you can come with me so let's do that then we will go to the lake." percy said. That was when ron was sick of being ignored and butted in "hermione. We have classes where you can't go anywhere or you will get detention For a month." "Oh, I won't get in trouble. Migonical gave me the week off. She said to spend some time with my brother who was missing for 8 months. I also need to talk to her too. Percy, can we go there first and then to Dumbledore's office?" I said. "Sure let's go, I am done eating." percy said. We walked to migonicals office and knocked. "Come in" came through the door. I walked in and professor mcgonagall said "oh granger is there something else you want to talk to me about." "yes um well i need to tell you i am pregnant and that my husband is dead." I said in a breath. "Oh Hermione I am so sorry I will talk to Dumbledore to move you into a sweet and do you want to live with percy too because we can move him there too." "um yeah that would be great thank you." I said. We talked for a couple of minutes then excused ourselves to go and talk to dumbledore. We knocked on his door and heard him "come in" through the door. We walked in and dumbledore said "ahhhh granger and jackson i have been expecting you. Sit down, sit down and we will start." We sat down and he started "well i bet you are wondering why you are here well it is pretty simple we need a defense against the dark arts teacher snape is doing his and that class and it is not working. I would like to ask you two to do it. Migonical has already informed me of the recent developments. I will excuse from your extra classes you will only have poisons, herbology on certain safer days, charms, and transfiguration. Is that ok?" I nodded not knowing what to say. This was a relief. I had thought I would be kicked out or not be able to go to any of my classes but I can and I will catch up easily with my others. The only one I had not been relieved to lose was the care of magical creatures. I hated the class, all the animals tried to attack me. It was understandable though they were creatures of the earth or of gias claim and they did not like it that we were fighting her, but I loved the teacher. I can still go down to his hut but it won't be the same. "Ok well your first class is tomorrow so yeah i want you to specifically teach weapons. My students need to know how to fight without a wand. Ok well that is all you two are excused." Dumbledore said and we left heading towards the direction of the lake. We were almost to the lake when I said "so we are teachers now. I can't wait to see the camp's reaction when they learn that the most immature people in the camp are incharge of a large group of magic people." Percy laughed and then said "yeah they will be asking how sane the person in charge is." We went back and forth with jokes until we reached the lake. I ran and splashed into the lake. I loved to swim and I snuck out a lot just to go swim in the lake. We swam until dinner then we ran up to the great hall to eat. Iwon the race and did a little cartwheel in victory (don't worry I had jeans on). "Ha percy i won." I did a victory dance and then we sat down to eat.

Near the end of dinner Dumbledore stood up and said "I would like to announce that I have found two new teachers to teach defense against the dark arts." I felt dread pool in my stomach but waited for his next words. "Hermione granger and percy jackson please come up here." I stood up and waited for Percy so we could both walk up together. He stood up and we linked our arms together. We walked up and stood beside dumbledore. "They are very skilled in sword fighting and I have decided to have them teach you all. Will you two please give us a demonstration?" He said and I nodded and took off my neclause while Percy took out his sword. I tapped the charm 2 times and it transformed. Iwalked down the stairs and we got into position. "Ready set fight" yelled Snape (he was referring to the match). I struck first. Percy paired and I did a roll. I protected my stomach which made me have a disadvantage. I sliced at his face and he kicked me in the knee. I jumped over his leg. I then hit him in the back with my elbow. I then got a flashback of when I fought with leo. I had so much fun the whole time. I paused and I missed him and that is the moment the great hall doors flew open with leo valdez on fire just standing there. "LEO!!!!!!" I screamed and ran to him. He put himself out right when I threw myself into his arms. I clung onto him sobbing. "I thought you were dead, they told me that you were dead. I love you, I love you so so much." I started to rambel and then stepped back and slapped him right in the face. That of course is when I stormed out while listening to the laughter of my brother and the ow from my husband. My husband was alive, this is all I could have dreamed of. I did not have to do everything alone anymore. I was not alone. That was of course when percy and leo caught up to me. "What was that for? You could have ruined my beautiful face." Leo exclaimed. "Oh Leo, I missed you but I need to talk to you. Come follow me." I said then rushed off to my new suit. When we got there I plonked onto the coach and Leo plonked right down next to me. "Soooooooooooooo why did you need to talk to me, Love?" Leo asked while pecking my cheek. "Um, well I need to tell you that I am pregnant. You are going to be a dad!" I said. Leo just looked at me then he collapsed. "Well that went as expected, are you sure that you want him? He is a little loopy." Percy asked. I laughed and then said "yes i am sure i love him even though he is an idiot he is my idiot." "You really do love him and I am happy for you. I know you will be happy with him now, let's get him into your bed so you can go to bed." I smiled and then helped carry him into our room. Percy left and I hurried and got ready for bed. I then flopped onto the bed next to leo and instantly fell asleep.
