Five years ago, the world burned.
Alva Feng woke up a year ago, gasping for breath, deep in the southern mountains of Madacia. Her nostrils singed and gaps in her memories. After making her way out of the mountains, she is faced with the reality of life after everything has burned away. Thinking that she is alone in a deserted world, Alva makes her way across the Districts of Mirka trying desperately to get back to her son in the northern part of Madacia.
Only it turns out that Alva isn't the only survivor of the fires and darker things are lurking in the ruin and regrowth. To find her son, Alva must rely on the help of other survivors as the unforgiving new world plays by a new set of rules.
As the journey begins, mysteries emerge, relationships are tested, and lies pile up.
