Chapter 4: Officer Vanessa

    Mike and I finally made it to the house. We got out and walked in to see max sleeping on the couch. I tried to be quiet but Mike didn't care and Max woke up from his noise. "Hey guys." Max said quietly. I took Mikes coat and placed it on the coat hanger along with mine. Mike went to sit on his recliner chair and I went to check on Abby

     Abby was fast asleep so I gave her a forehead kiss and walked back to the living room. I said bye to Max as she was leaving and walked behind Mike to give him a shoulder message. When I touched his shoulders he jumped a little bit and I apologized, trying not to laugh. After a few minutes Mike thanked me and got up to walk to Abby's room. I followed behind him and leaned against the door frame as I watched him sit on Abby's bed and push some hair behind he ear

     "Mike." I whispered to him. He got up from the bed and slowly walked up to me. I smiled and gently wrapped my arms around his neck. Mike buried his face in my chest and wrapped his arms around my hips. "Do you want breakfast?" I asked him. I felt his head nod yes on my chest which tickled me a little. I giggled and kissed the top of his head before leaving him to sleep so I could make breakfast

Timeskip Many Hours Later:

     I was with Abby in her room playing "security guard". She had Mikes vest on and I had my own on. While we were playing we heard squeaking coming from Mikes room. We walked to the room to see him jumping on his bed. I covered my mouth in attempt to hide my laughter which didn't really work. "What are you doing?" Abby asked. Just then Mike ripped a part of his poster from the ceiling and fell on the bed on all fours. Last time I saw him on all fours was the night of graduation (A/n: sorry...)

     "Babe why didn't you just call me to help you?" I said crossing my arms. He crawled off the bed and looked at us annoyed. "Do you guys need something?" Mike asked. Abby nodded her head and said "no". "All right, quit playing and take that off we gotta go to work." Mike said putting his hand out for Abby to give him the vest. "I know i'm coming with you." Abby said. "No. You're not. Give me the vest" Mike protested. Abby protested as well which caused Mike to bend down and demand the vest

     I left the room because the doorbell rang and the way Mike bent down like that made me blush a little. I opened the door and it was Max the babysitter. "Oh, hey Max!" I greeted her. "Hi Y/n!" She greeted back. As I closed the door we heard Abby yelling for Mike to let go of her. We looked across the hallway to see Mike carrying Abby around his shoulders as he took the vest and locked her in her room. I sighed at their antics and apologized to Max before grabbing the keys and a coat. "She's all yours" Mike sighed. I said bye to Abby and we left to the pizzeria

Timeskip To Inside Main Office:

     Mike was sleeping in his chair and listening to his nature tape. On the car ride here Mike told me about some children he saw during his dream last night. I watched as he slept before realizing I had to use the bathroom. I gave him a kiss on the forehead before leaving to find the bathroom. It took me some time but I eventually found the restroom; I still don't trust this place so I tried to quickly do my business and leave. While I was washing my hands the lights started aggressively flickering and a song from the speakers was playing extremely loud

     "What the hell!?" I yelled, covering my ears. Then all of a sudden the power turned off for a couple seconds then back on again. I assumed that was Mikes doing which calmed down my nerves a bit. I walked back to the office and saw a police officer across the office holding a first aid kit

     "Umm... Hi... who are you?" I said slowly walking into the office. "Oh i'm sorry I thought there was only one security guard. I'm Officer Vanessa but please, just call me Vanessa." She said putting out her hand for me to shake. I gave her a skeptical look before shaking her hand. "Nice to meet you Vanessa. I'm Y/n, Mikes boyfriend" I said looking at Mike. "Oh that's sweet! I actually have a wife. Her name is Gloria!" she smiled at us. I smiled back at her feeling immediately more comfortable knowing she was just like us. Just then I looked at Mike to see his arm was wrapped in a bandage

     "Oh my god Mike are you okay? What happened?!" I said extremely worried, crouching down and gently grabbing his arm to examine it. "Babe, I'm okay... Promise." He reassured me. He put his sleeve down to cover the bandage as I sighed in concern. "I'm okay Y/n... Promise." Mike said putting his hand behind my neck. I smiled at him and gave him a passionate kiss. We let go of the kiss and smiled at each other for a few seconds

     Vanessa cleared her throat, bringing our attention back to her. "You guys are a cute couple" she told us. "Thank you Vanessa" I smiled at her. "Anyways. You doing all right this evening, Mike?" She asked. "What?" Mike responded confused. "Are you good? Are you okay? Is everything copacetic?" She said. My face changed from a neutral look to a very confused look. "Yeah I know what "all right" means." Mike responded kinda sassily

     "Do you also know that your eyes are bloodshot and your heart rate's through the roof?" She states. "Wait what? Mike I thought you said you were okay!" I said, gently slapping his shoulder. "And aside from that gash on your arm, which... lets be honest, is pretty frickin' bizarre, you've been acting suspicious since the moment you opened the door." She took a step forward while confronting mike. I grabbed my chair and sat next to Mike while wrapping my arm around his waist

     Honestly I zoned out during the conversation until I heard Vanessa say something that snapped me out my trance. "Have you met them yet?" She said to us. "Met who?" Mike and I said in unison. Vanessa made us follow her to the main room of the pizzeria with the stage and prize counter. She flipped some switches and the lights turned on, along with all the arcade machines

     We followed wherever she was going as I zoned out again and observed the room as Mike and Vanessa talked. I realized I zoned out again and came back to reality to hear Vanessa say something about missing kids. "Did she just say kids went missing?" I whispered to Mike. He looked at and shrugged his shoulder which made me roll my eyes

     "What did u just say?" Mike asked Vanessa as he walking up to her, me closely following behind. She ignored his question and pressed a red button on the side of the stage "Prepare to have your mind blown" She smiled. Some curtains opened and a red, withered, fox like animatronic with a hook was revealed. Then the main date curtains opened and there were the 3 animatronics we saw on the first night. A brown bear in the middle, a blue bunny on the left, and a yellow chicken on the right with a... cupcake?

      A song started playing as the animatronics moves and pretended to sing the song and play the guitar. After a couple seconds I realized the song they were playing was "Talking In Your Sleep" by the Romantics. "Oh I love this song!" I said to Mike as I started to slowly dance ignoring everything else. All of a sudden sparks flew out of the bunny's guitar and the curtains closed. "Aww c'mon! It was just getting good!" I said in a sad tone. Vanessa and Mike giggled at me before Vanessa started walking away from the stage

     Mike and Vanessa had a small conversation about the missing children that apparently went missing during the 80's. After the conversation Vanessa said something about us not having badges? She walked to the prize counter and grabbed a box full of metal police-like badges and pinned them on our vests. "Now you're official" she told us. "Mike look! We're official now!" I said pulling up my vest and pointing to my badge. He smiled at me and Vanessa patted me on my shoulder

     "He's pretty funny Mike. You really got a keeper here." She said chuckling at my enthusiasm. I started to slightly blush at Vanessa's comment which also made mike chuckle. "Thank you Vanessa. And I know." Mike responded as he secretly held my hand behind our backs. I smiled at him and gave him a peck on the cheek but just then his watch went off which alerted us it was 6am and we could finally go home

     Mike was locking up the pizzeria as Vanessa pulled up in her cop car. "Hey!" She shouted to us. "Some friendly advice? Don't let this place get to you. Just do your job and you'll be fine". She smiled at us. We thanked Vanessa for the advice and she drove off. Mike finally locked the gate so we got into the car and drive home
