june 10th, 1985.

it was a warm, sunny afternoon in hawkins, indiana. a small family of 4, and a few men unload boxes and furniture from a large moving truck. surrounded by a few other houses and a large line of trees behind, going back miles and miles, there was the brand new house the gordis family would call home until they'd decided to move once again.

the gordis family never grew up rich, they had been considered in the lower middle class. the family originally lived in salem, massachusetts, leaving to hawkins to be closer to relatives who lived in another small town just outside of hawkins.

briar gordis, the eldest of the two gordis children, was unfazed by this move. honestly she much rather would've been back in her rock band posters and plant covered room that always smelt like eucalyptus incense back in salem than the small town she found herself in. she'd already experienced the culture shock when her and her mother briefly stopped at a gas station just about 30 minutes prior to them arriving at their new home.

"bri, hurry up! you'll miss first dibs on a room!" a boy, her little brother, dalton shouted as he ran towards the house with a box full of his dungeons and dragons sets. briar sighed as she lifted up a random box with her name written on it before walking towards the house.

lovely.
