Like the ship between Harry and Cho, they don't have that sensational feeling of TRUE love. Ginny is like one of those characters who fall in love with someone who's "POPULAR," then they become a "thing" when they don't even spend quality time together. In the movie and book, the author seems to put Ginny so that she can be Harry's girlfriend. LIKE WHAT?!
