Jisung holds tight to his demon's hand as they navigate their way through unfamiliar winding streets. Every now and then he catches sight of the demon realm beyond the town; the arid land peeking through narrow passageways.

Jisung looked from Minho's hand to the village Minho called home. It was both eerie yet still full of life. Demons wandered the streets, and many were even trading wares at stalls, or inviting others from the street and into their stores.

There was an odd sense of comradery that Jisung wasn't familiar with. Angels lived for the most part in solitude with their soulmate, only interacting with one another if their duties requested as such. With the exception of one's soulmate, there was no pleasure outside of work. Jisung couldn't help but want to be a part of the new world around him.

After walking for some time, Minho stops in front of a small iron-clad door, and with a few brief clicks he pushes it aside to reveal the dim space within.

With a snap of his fingers, the space lights up in candlelight, basking the room in an amber glow.

The space was as wide as his wings once were, and its ceilings much lower than the high ones he was used to. There was a place to sit just beyond the doors, as well as a place where meals could be made and eaten. Up a set of stairs was Minho's place of rest, and funnily enough a place Jisung was more than familiar with.

"It feels a lot larger in person," Jisung remarks.

When Minho pulled his soul to him from his dreams, he'd always find himself in this very room. He could never touch anything, or move anything, and the very room itself had always had a strange haze to it. Minho had always been the clearest in his vision so his eyes usually remained solely on him as he spoke.

While Jisung could hear Minho loud and clear, Minho couldn't always hear him back, so a lot of the time Jisung had settled for listening and watching rather than trying to force out words Minho couldn't hear.

Minho could only hold his soul for so long; sometimes an hour, sometimes only a few minutes. Their encounters were limited by how deep Jisung had been sleeping when his soul was pulled, and how close he was to waking.

Regardless, the time they shared was enough for the pair to fall in love and come to terms with one another who were always so close, yet so far apart.

Every living creature has a harmonious pair with which they share a unique connection, just usually it's with someone of your own kind.

When Jisung had first discovered his soulmate was a demon he'd kept it a secret, fearful of what the angels would think of him or what they would do.

But when Jisung came of age, finally maturing into a fully fledged angel, those around him began to question why he was still alone.

Given they had the unique ability to find their soul pair, it was common practice to find one another and to live and serve eternity as one. Over time building your bond and eventually coming together as lovers. So the fact that Jisung was alone at full maturity and couldn't even acknowledge the presence and location of his soulmate was a very strange occurrence.

Jisung had been summoned by the angels who governed him; they couldn't accept that he just didn't have a soulmate, and they were determined to get to the bottom of things to reinstate harmonious order to the heavens above. Under oath he had been forced to reveal the truth about the demon he was bound to, his very secret causing uproar and chaos.

The angels were a mixture of anger, disgust and fear and they forbade him from meeting such a "twisted creature" as they had put it.

It didn't stop Jisung from trying to leave though, but he could only get so far before his body would begin to burn in the white light that surrounded heaven, and he'd be retreating back to safety.
