As much as it hurts, do it. At least in the end you know that you did your part. You know that it has nothing to do with you. If they can't do the same, then it has something to do with them. You're loving them unconditionally, to the point that you would still love them even if they wouldn't love you back... So be proud of yourself for giving that purest form of love. It will always be a reflection of yourself.
