CHAPTER TWELVE - Peeves the Poltergeist

Alessia caught up to Lily and the boys fairly quickly, shooting Remus a dirty look as she passed.

“What did I do?!” he asked, climbing the spiral staircase.

“You had that brilliant idea!” Alessia hissed, lifting her cloak up so she could run more easily, “Stupid cloak… How do Dementors do this?!”

“They hover a few inches above the ground and…” Lily trailed off when Alessia shot her a sharp look, "Sorry."

"Yeah, Lily, turn your nerd-a-meter off." Sirius said, jokingly. Lily didn't seem to find it very funny. They were almost at the top of the tower now. They could hear Bellatrix fumbling with Lily's locket.

"I hear the pitter-patter of feet," Came Bellatrix's voice, "Some pure, some half, and some filthy." James was fuming. Even though he and Sirius were purebloods, while Remus and Alessia were half, everyone knew by 'filthy' Bellatrix meant Muggle-born.

The group got to the top of the tower, where Bellatrix was smiling deviously. She had her right arm outstretched and out the window. This was the hand with Lily's locket in it.

"Want it, Evans?" she asked mockingly, "How bad?"

Lily was shaking, and Alessia put a hand on her arm, warningly. If she, Lily, advanced on Bellatrix, they could all say goodbye to that locket. It would be smashed.

"Good girl." Bellatrix smiled. She was using her baby voice, that Sirius had heard all-too-many times. He spat at her.

"Hand it over, Black." Remus asked politley, though still not using her first name.

"Please, Lupin." Bellatrix corrected, shaking the dangling necklace.

"What do you want, Bella?" Sirius asked, grumpily. He knew her all too well to not be frightened about what was going to happen next.

"Oh, not much..." She was lying through her teeth and everyone knew it, "I want to-"

But what Bellatrix wanted, our friends never found out, because a tauny owl fluttered to the window, snatched the locket from Bellatrix's hand, and flew away.

"Are you kidding me?!" James exclaimed, as they all ran back down the stairs, leaving Bellatrix there, shocked. Sirius, however, didn't seemed as pissed off as the rest of the group.

"Padfoot! Why are you smiling?!" Remus asked him, hitting him over the head. Sirius kept smiling. James was now also very annoyed with him.

"Sirius!" Alessia yelled, her mouth hanging open. Sirius had stopped running.

"Andromeda!" he yelled back, looking at Alessia.

"He's lost it," Lily muttered, now also stopping. She spoke louder now, "Sirius? That's Alessia De Luca."

Sirius sighed impatiently, "I know who she is, thanks," he said, then started running again. James and Remus looked like they were going to choke him, "It's Andromeda. She's now my favourite cousin."

James took a threatening step towards Sirius. Alessia and Remus both put hands on his shoulders. Lily seemed to be patient with Sirius though, "Why?"

     "It's her owl." Sirius said.

"Finally!" Remus mumbled, under his breath.

     "So?" Alessia asked.

"She likes me! We'll be able to get it back!" Sirius said. Lily's whole face lit up. She looked over at Alessia and whispered:

"When it went missing the first time, Andromeda gave it back." James was the only one who seemed to hear her, besides Alessia. By this time, our friends were already at the bottom of North Tower and were running madly towards the grounds. There was a cackling noise, making everyone freeze.

"Peeves!" Lily hissed. And she was right - A few seconds later, Peeves the Poltergeist had appeared in the Entrance Hall, carrying something. No one in the group wanted to know what that green goup was.

"Oooh!" Peeves cackled again, "Gryffindors! Out of bed, are we?" This statment meant the dance was obviously over, and Peter was probably looking for them. How did time go by so quickly?

"No," Alessia told him, strongly, "We are not out of bed, and you will not tell anyone we are here." Peeves nodded, and just floated away, as if what Alessia told him were true.

     "How did you-" Remus started.

"I'm not just an Anigmus, Remus." Alessia interrupted.

     "Obviously, but how-" James started.

"I'll tell you guys later! Let's find Andromeda."
