Long ago, the nine lands that form the Ennea we know today were separate. Each had their own people, language, and culture. They lived in peace, neither trying to take more than what was theirs. But then the world changed.
Other lands began to wage war with eachother. They all had a reason to justify their cause: Fame, fortune, gold, territory, pride. All stupid reasons. None were worth the death and destruction they costs.
Desperate to avoid the same, nine families from all of the lands banded together for form one Kingdom and protect themselves from outsiders. They fearfully awaited such time when they too would go to war, but such a time never came. Kingdoms and Nations all around them rose and fell and burned and healed, all the while Ennea remained untouched.
Many believe that that the reason that Ennea stil stands is that the Gods are pleased at their continued following of the old way. And one of the most important traditions being The Matching Ceremony, during which one female and one male heir from each of the nine families are betrothed and wedded to another heir.
The matches are determined by scholars who study the will of the Gods, called 'Mages', and are sacred.
The Nine Families
The Greens- The Kingdoms Farm. Governing the most vegatated and fertile lands, they are responsible for feeding the kingdom and producing herbs for medicine.
