Chapter 1: When Perfection Crumbles

- 1 Week Earlier -

*CINDY'S POV*

Clear blue skies and a light breeze. The day was more than pleasant as the sun engulfed us in a comfortable warmth. It was a lovely Saturday afternoon. Truly perfect. My life was the definition of perfect.

As the wind softly played with my blue summer dress and wove through my caramel hair, my hazel eyes searched for the one person whom I loved more than myself. Suddenly they found him.

Perfection.

His dark, almost black hair, shaded his blue eyes as they searched for me too. A smile tickled my cheeks as I swiftly approached my handsome boyfriend. His eyes lit up as they finally found mine. He quickened his pace and embraced me tightly when he reached me. He greeted me with a quick kiss on my lips before his blue eyes were searching again.

"Are they here yet?" He asked, referring to my friends that I was meeting there for lunch. My eyes joined his search while my arm went around his torso.

"Nope. They should be here any minute, though." I replied absentmindedly.

"Perfect," he said, his eyes glinting mischievously. "Then there's still time to do this ..."

Before I could respond, his arms went around my waist and his lips met mine once again.

"Uh ehrm. Get a room. Ew. Please. I beg of you."

The voice of one of my best friends, Laura, pushed us apart.

She always talked in short, cut-up phrases. It was quite funny when she got upset. She would spit her words at us like bullets. I think it would really hurt if we could actually hear what she was saying.

I reluctantly pulled away from Taylor's embrace.

"Oh, we will." Taylor retorted with a smirk dancing on his lips.

I'm sure my face resembled a tomato. Laura's grey eyes did a barrel roll and she whipped a few strands of her blonde hair over her shoulder before replying.

"Ew. Really? Information overload. I just threw up. In my mouth. Ew."

And she also liked saying "Ew". A lot.

"Hello to you too Laura," I smiled at her. "Where are the others?"

She hugged me before replying.

"Will be here soon. Little girl's room. Powdering noses. Let's get a table. I'm starving."

I nodded and we entered a nearby cafe. We were shown to a table and Taylor pulled out my chair before whispering into my ear.

"We'll continue our little adventure tonight, I'll be back later. They're here, have fun."

I followed his gaze and saw my other friends approaching. He dropped a kiss on my cheek before disappearing into the sea of people that surrounded the café.

He didn't like to shop with us, which was totally understandable. We took close to forever when we went on a shopping spree. Especially when it came to clothes. And he knew I needed some time alone with my friends. He was a great boyfriend.

My other friends reached our table and we exchanged hello's. They all took a seat and our voices crawled over each other as we started to catch up with the latest gossip and scandals.

To my right was Cassy, a blue-eyed brunette. She was almost always serious and pondering about the meaning of life. A permanent frown started forming between her eyes. She was the quietest member of our group and made me worry sometimes.
