girls to women

The spirit of a young, teenage soul
is fragile with the trauma of her past.
The generations of hurt passed down among girls, who become women as soon as their uterus can weep.
Girls, who become women,
as young as 10.

I am sick and tired of calling girls "women."
A woman is grown,
a woman is complete.
A girl is growing,
budding, learning about life.
Oh, the teenaged joy of friends and fun and drama

When did we decide our girls needed to be women?
Let girls
be girls.
And let women
be women.
