Kabanata 1
Best friend
February 14.
I was stood up by my date.
I was seeing someone for a few weeks now. We started by chatting, decided to meet for a coffee date, and meetups became continous since then. I was considering his potential to level things up and be my boyfriend
Hello, it's Valentine's Day?!
What good excuse can he tell me? Other than that, goodbye.
That's a bit exaggeration, but grrr.
"Release the glass, it can't fight..."
My comfort person is here.
"You're here!" bulalas ko.
He smirked.
"You left me with no choice. Of course, I'm here." Tumaas ang kanyang kilay. "What happened to your date?"
"Do you really have to ask? It's a disaster! Hindi ako sinipot, okay?" Pinanlakihan ko siya ng mata.
Tumawa naman ito. Sinamaan ko siya ng tingin. Walang nakakatuwa sa pangyayaring iyon. He should've cancelled on the last minute, it was still unacceptable, but at least my time wasn't wasted waiting for him.
Everyone in the restaurant was having a good time. And there was me, anxiously waiting for someone who wasn't going to honor his word.
"It's his loss. Don't waste your time sulking. Let me make it up to you, then."
I wanted to stop him, but he wasn't even looking at me. Patuloy siya sa pag-order.
Mayroon naman akong pera... Mama gave me money for the date.
"Makoy!" I called him when the waiter left. "Baka maghugas tayo n'yan... mahal pa naman dito!"
"Tulungan mo na lang ako, Crim." He wriggled his eyebrows. "Don't worry about it, just enjoy the moment, Crim."
Crim, short for Crimson.
When we were kids, he used to call me Crimpie as I called him Makoy. For some reason, we searched our nicknames on the internet, I was so traumatized that I cried.
I can help him with the chores.
We talked.
Hindi kami halos nagkita at nag-usap nitong nakaraan. He was busy with university, at the same time, he was working part-time jobs. Another one that I had one-sided beef with was his auntie --- that Oleya, the bitch.
