Queen Minerva 's guard stood on one end, along the ocean's shore as the merfolk army waged war from behind.

Arrows flew alongside battle cries as Annabeth and Percy arrived at the scene, clad in quick armour and brandishing weapons.
Annabeth flew into the thick of battle, deflecting a rain of arrows and some sort of projectiles being hurled from the merfolk, Percy behind her, guarding her back.

Percy grabbed Annabeth's shoulder as they fought, pulling her aside.

"Percy?" she asked, but she had no need to. She understood the resolve in his eyes in an instant.

"Go. So what you must," she whispered, squeezing his arm as she swat away an arrow headed towards him.

Percy nodded. But before he could leave, Annabeth grabbed the hem of his shirt, crashing her lips into his.

"Sea and land may lie between us, but my heart is always there with you," she promised, her words sweet against his lips.

"Don't die on me," she smiled as they pulled apart, taking his presence in, giving him an affirming nod he ran towards the ocean

Suddenly, piercing pain shot through her shoulder as Percy left and the princess of Athens stumbled.

Her shoulder throbbed under the weight of the arrow, blood pouring out of her.

But she could not yield, no, despite the pain she could not falter.

With the arrow in her flesh, the future queen of Athens stood tall, her sword in her other hand as she ran through her troops.
