"Kubfu, use Dynamic Punch!"

"Tackle attack, Scoorbunny!"

Both of the Pokémons charged toward each other, colliding with one another, only for Kubfu to push forward. However, Scoorbunny wasn't going to give up so easily. So it kept persisting with Double Kicks on Goh's command.

"Don't attack Kubfu! Focus on trying to defend the attacks with your martial arts skills!" Ash suggested much to Kubfu's dismay. Being naturally much stronger than Scoorbunny, Kubfu didn't see the point in deflecting the attacks from Scoorbunny. He could have just finished the bunny Pokémon in a couple of blows and be done with it so that he can face up against Corvesquire. With a sigh, Kubfu nodded as it wasn't an option anymore to disobey his trainer. Kubfu closed its eyes and recalled its training with its old trainer. It opened its eyes, completely focused and skillfully deflecting the Double Kicks that were sent towards him.

Corvesquire, on the other hand, was training alongside Sky. Sky did find Ash's Corvesquire to be a difficult Pokémon, the reason being that it had far too much pride and a foul temper most of the time. Nonetheless, it was a valiant and hard-working Pokémon which Sky respected, so it decided not to hold back at all. Surprisingly, despite Sky's far greater experience, Corvesquire was able to keep up with her, albeit barely.

Charizard and Pikachu were training against each other just like they do regularly since none of the Pokémons in Cerise Laboratory were remotely close to their level. Ivysaur and Roserade watched from the sidelines while Sirfetchd was giving some tips to Scyther.

It had been a week since the Mota incident happened. Since the man was put behind bars, and Vermillion City lacked a mayor for the time being, Surge took that responsibility. In the meantime, Goh had started to train with Ash to improve his battle skills. Ash decided to only use Corvesquire and Kubfu for his practice spares. Since using Pikachu and Charizard would be unfair. And despite any Pokémon Goh used, Ash came out as the victor every time. But Goh's battle skills did start to improve. However, he did have some other effects. It was during their training session that the two boys finally noticed something. Kubfu and Scoorbunny were still not fond of each other's company. This did worry the two boys, as this could cause problems for them in the future. Luckily, this did cause Kubfu and Scoorbunny to develop a fierce rivalry between each other. Seeing this, Ash and Goh often use Kubfu and Scoorbunny to spare against each other so they could spend time with each other, trying their hardest to defeat the other. For now, it seemed that Kubfu was the one leading in their rivalry, having won every battle till now. But this did keep Scoorbunny motivated to get stronger.

"Hey guys, breakfast is ready!" Sonia exclaimed, entering Cerise Park. Both Ash and Goh stopped their early morning spare, alongside Scoorbunny and Kubfu.

"Coming!" Both of them replied at the same time. Ash then recalled all of the Pokémons aside from Pikachu, thanking them for all of their efforts.

"Let's go, Pikachu!/ You too, Scoorbunny!"

Ash and Goh ran towards the dining room, with their starters chasing after them. Unknown to them, a certain someone was watching their battle with great interest... It was the wild Thwakey among the grass-type Pokémon that resided in the Cerise Lab temporarily.
