NARI YUN HAD become cruel, long since after haven given up on cruel.
It had been seen when she had spared her brother's life, letting him wander around as that accursed creature he had tried so hard to protect her from, and it was made painfully apparent when her mother had pleaded—no, begged—for her not to pump her body full of those class A drugs, yet the substances still coursed through her veins. But her attempts at keeping those closest to her alive had all been futile—her mother had still died and her brother was now unrecognizable, a monster surrounded by monsters.
Nari could taste the coldness on her tongue, on her breath; and the sickness spreading rapidly through her lungs, festering and growing within. She could barely concentrate on the world in front of her when the world inside of her had crumbled long ago.
Yet, Nari was unaware of why she had let Kang Soek-chan in—why she had accepted his help. Maybe it was her unwillingness to not drown alone, to drag someone else down into the depths of her own suffering and anguish.
Nari Yun did not want to suffer alone, she wanted someone else to burn alongside her.
She wanted their pain to fit hand in hand.
