❝PARTY?❞
╚══════╝
"IS THIS REALLY HELPING YOU?"You're sitting on a wooden deck as you watch Daniel paint Miyagi's fence. Half an hour had passed by—and you couldn't discard the questions filling up your brain, which caused you to ask Daniel that.
He shrugs, proceeding to paint the fence in a specific way Mr. Miyagi informed him to do. "I don't know," he truthfully responds, "But I'm sure it's meant for something."
"Sucks you're doing all that when I'm right here." You take hold of the water bottle that is resting beside you, opening it to seize a sip. Daniel diverts his sight away from the paint to look at you—turning back to the fence as he smiles at your words.
It's been a week since you and Daniel had gotten together. However, it felt like you knew him forever.
You started to accompany Daniel when it was one of the days he had to train with Miyagi—that's if you aren't busy. Usually, on a Saturday like this, you would be hanging out with your friends, or stuck in the house all day with your mom.
It was fun to feel included. Daniel enjoyed your company and you enjoyed his. Mr. Miyagi may have had to remind you to stay quiet once or twice, but other than that, everything was perfect.
In the corner of your eye, you see the man make his way towards Daniel. He stops in front of the boy, separating his lips to inform, "Small board, left hand. Big board, right hand."
"But I'm almost done?"
"All of fence."
The three of you all turn around as Miyagi guides his hand to show Daniel the whole perimeter of the fence. You raise your eyebrows in light shock—feeling bad for the raven-haired boy.
He shoots you a mutual puzzled look before facing back towards the fence, continuing to paint it. The man trails away from LaRusso and you, repeating the instructions as his voice fades off in the distance.
Hours passed and it was getting late. You're leaning on the dry part of the fence as you watch Daniel almost finish. Your eyes were gaining heaviness, and a yawn escaped your lips. Daniel was also tired—not surprised if he was more exhausted than you.
You almost freak out, noticeably jumping when you realize you let something slip your mind. Daniel lifts an eyebrow in curiosity. "What's wrong?" He questions, not taking his concentration off of the paintbrush and how he paints the fence.
"I totally forgot to help my mom with this party we're having tomorrow," you respond before letting out an irritated huff. "She's gonna be so pissed at me," you add.
"Party?"
"It's this event my family and I have every year. Our cousins, uncles, aunts, friends, and other members get together to eat and party. This year we're having it at my place and I fucking forgot." You position your hands over your face, dragging it down as you take a deep breath to hopefully calm yourself down.
Daniel glimpses at your stressed physique. "Go," he suddenly says, resulting in you shooting your head up from your palms to look at Daniel. "Hurry up. You don't want to be any later than you already are."
You unsurely ask, "Are you sure? You're gonna be okay by yourself?"
"I'll live," he smiles. "Plus, I won't be by myself. Mr. Miyagi's here."
"You knew what I meant."
He laughs, "Do I?"
Your eyes flicker up and down on Daniel's figure, pondering about his suggestion before giving in. You lean off of the fence to stroll toward Daniel, planting a peck on his cheek. "I'll see you later, bye."
A warm smile lights up on his face. "See you," he whispers.
