They caught their breath, Demon and Nightfurry exchanged a knowing glance. It was a hard-won victory, but their bond had grown stronger than before. The aftermath of the battle left the two warriors weary but triumphant. As they surveyed the field strewn with fallen adversaries, Nightfurry's keen senses picked up on a faint sound, a barely perceptible gasp for breath.

"Wait," Nightfurry said, her ears perking up. "Did you hear that?"

Demon turned her attention to where Nightfurry was pointing and saw a figure lying huddled in the shadow of a nearby boulder. Without hesitation, the two warriors rushed to the fallen figure's side and discovered it was Julia, the valiant knight who had fought alongside them.

"Julia, what happened?" Demon's voice trembled with concern as she saw the grievous wound that marred Julia's side.

"I was ambushed from behind," Julia gasped, her voice strained with pain. "I don't know if I'll make it."

Demon's heart raced as she assessed the severity of Julia's wound. She knew that time was of the essence, and she could feel the weight of responsibility pressing down on her. Her magical abilities were formidable, but healing such a grave injury would require a sacrifice she had never before contemplated.

Nightfurry watched with growing apprehension as Demon's hands began to glow with a soft, ethereal light. The magical energy coalesced around Julia's wound, and for a moment, it seemed as though the healing process had begun. But as the moments passed, Demon's expression grew increasingly strained, and beads of sweat formed on her brow.

"Demon, you can't!" Nightfurry's voice was filled with urgency as she realized the toll this act of healing was taking on her companion.

"I have to try," Demon replied through gritted teeth, her voice taut with determination. "I can't let her die."

As the seconds ticked by, it became apparent that even Demon's formidable powers were not enough to mend the severity of Julia's wound. The knight's breathing grew shallow, and her life force waned with each passing moment.

"I'm sorry," Demon whispered, her eyes filled with a mixture of anguish and resolve. "I have to do this."

Without further hesitation, Demon made a split-second decision. She closed her eyes and summoned the deepest reserves of her magical energy. In a blinding flash of light, she transferred a portion of her own life force to Julia, her body trembling with the immense strain of the act.

As the transfer of energy took place, Nightfurry watched in stunned silence, her eyes wide with disbelief. When the light finally subsided, Demon slumped to the ground, her breath ragged and her strength depleted. Julia's eyes fluttered open, and color returned to her cheeks as the wound on her side began to heal before their eyes.

"Demon, what have you done?" Nightfurry's voice was filled with a mixture of concern and incredulity as she rushed to her companion's side.

"I couldn't let her die," Demon replied, her voice barely above a whisper. "I had to save her."
