Zayn had never been loved. His dad had left Zayn and his mom alone when Zayn was 7, leaving them for his new girlfriend.
Soon after his mom started using drugs, strong ones like meth and crack. She would stay out all night at parties, getting high. Sometimes she would bring men home, but they were never the same and they were always gone before morning. She got arrested 6 months later and Zayn got put into foster care. He moved to a new house almost every month. He was just too much trouble for the families.
When Zayn was 17, he was still in the system. He would spend a week at a new house before running away and living on the street for another week before getting arrested for drugs or stealing. Then he would spend a week or two in jail before being released to his social worker who just placed him in a new home. It had always been like this, and Zayn expected it to stay that way until he turned 18 and could live on his own. But then Zayn was sent to Holmes Chapel and he met his new foster brother.
