Chapter 2

I see the bags that belonged to my roommate that I saw this morning upon entering my dorm are now open and empty, and I've noticed my roommate must've put their things away by now. Until, I turn to see my roommate.

THE. DAVID. CHIEM. Is standing right in front of me. I don't even know if he's said anything to me. I'm too lost in my thoughts to even process what's happening right now. I mean-- MY IDOL. IS MY ROOMMATE. I feel my body tense up as I do my best to compose myself. However, my body takes control because...

"Y-you're David Chiem-! I'm a huge fan! I saw you earlier but I really didn't expect you to be my roommate-!" I exclaim, going into a bit of rambling on how much I look up to David, which I think he couldn't understand because of how fast I was speaking. David seems startled, before smiling and chuckling somewhat awkwardly.

"Ahaha... thanks..? I've seen you earlier, I believe. Xander Matthews, right?" He asks me, and I can feel myself about to go overboard again.

"Y-yea! That's me! I can't believe you actually know me...! I mean, me standing next to you- I'm practically a nobody-! I-"

"P-please... t-that's enough..." He cuts me off, seeming awkward. His face filled with a light blush. He rubs the back of his neck. I blush realising how uncomfortable I must've made him.

"A-ah, I'm so sorry. I got carried away there. Forgive me, I'm just a huge fan..." I explain, toning my voice down and speaking softer so as to not overwhelm David even more than I already have...

He nods, still seeming shaken. "Uhm.. It's okay. But, I'm not as amazing as you think... a-and if it's not too much to ask... is it okay if you.. treat me normally? Sorry if that sounds strange.. It's just that... The praise makes me.. Uncomfortable. If you understand what I'm getting at..."

I feel my face flush more as David explains how he prefers to not be praised. I understand where he's coming from, as I know more than anybody how many fans he has and how much praise he gets for his speeches. If he didn't explain his situation now... I probably would have gone too far.

"I am- so, so, so sorry, David, sir- I mean– David..." I fumble over my words and look down. My face still flushed as I apologize.

"It's okay, really." He says, smiling softly at me as I raise my head. "Let's redo this introduction, shall we?" He offers. And I quickly nod in response. A normal introduction. I take a deep breath and calm myself to the best of my abilities.

"I'm Xander Matthews, nice to officially meet you." I say, a grin spreading across my face as we exchange a handshake. I see David laugh slightly, making my chest feel light and warm.

"David Chiem. But I know that you already know that." He says, letting go of my hand. I smile and laugh for a moment. I then remember the party me, Levi and Whit we're planning on going to later.
"Hey, can I ask... did you get an invite to a party later? By a red-brown haired guy, perhaps?" I ask, standing in front of David, still. Leaning back and forth slightly, hands behind my back.

He thinks for a moment. "Oh, yea. Ace right? If I heard correctly he's the Ultimate Jockey." He responds, looking for the card Ace gave him. He pulls it out of the pockets of his pants, holding it in his hand.

I start to fidget slightly. "Well, do you have anyone to go with? Because if you don't.., you can tag along with me! Oh- a-and my friends, Whit and Levi." I offer.

He smiles. "Sounds great. So, should we meet your friends later?" It takes me a second. "Oh-! yea, yea. We're gonna meet them. Levi drives. They'll message me when we're going to meet." I say, and David nods. "Let's just hang out until then." He says, taking a seat on his bed in the room. and I follow suit, taking a seat on my designated bed as well.

Some time passes before Levi and Whit call us down to head to Ace's party. When we get down, Whit seems surprised to see David, but he throws me some looks that I can tell he may be planning something. Levi doesn't mind having another person come along with us, and we make our way to the party.
