Adaptation has three related meanings. Firstly, it is the dynamic process of that fits to their environment, enhancing their survival abilities. Secondly, it is a state reached by the population during that process. Thirdly, it is an adaptive trait, with a functional role in each individual , that is maintained and has evolved through natural selection. In simple terms, there's two different points. Changing to survive and reaching a point of insanity to survive.
Ivy Grimes looked up at the beaten up house that stood in front of her. She looked at the rest of her group which now consisted of fewer people than it did ten months prior. The question of whether or not it was due to their own state of weakness or the group as a whole's state of weakness was in play in this situation. Individual weakness can be fixed with the help of people, it can be solved. The difference between individual weakness and group weakness however resides in that if your group is weak, everyone trying to fix it at once isn't going to do anything but make it worse. In a world where competition is key to survival, people will fight for leadership when they think they deserve it when in reality, no one does.
She held the small sword in her hand that she had stolen from a house they had overrun a couple of months back. She had been working on bettering her aim with a gun but she had found that she was skilled with the sword she had come to love. She named it Khaleesi after a television show she loved called Game of Thrones. The character Daenerys Targaryen stood out to Ivy in a way that not many had.
She looked over at the boy that she had become close friends with over the months since the fall of the farm. She was learning not to be so distant from the people she loved, trying not to be so angry all of the time. She blamed herself partly for the downfall of the peaceful land. If she hadn't constantly tried to get into Shane's head maybe he wouldn't have gone crazy, maybe the gunshot wouldn't have gone off.
Ivy's shoulder had healed on the outside but the inside wasn't the same. Sometimes it was hard for her to move her arm but it wasn't bad enough to be life threatening or cause a threat to her safety. Working with the sword using her left arm had helped a lot and Hershel had come to her side often.
Her father moved forward and busted down the door to the large, white, broken house. Ivy could see two walkers from outside and her father had taken down one. Ivy ran forward and brought her sword up. She brought it down onto the walker's head and used her foot to kick it's chest. Once the body of the creature dropped, so did the guilty feeling in her stomach. She was still working out some of the guilt she felt when she killed a walker but for the most part it was completely gone. When she would see a woman or a child was what triggered her.
The group remained silent as they traveled through the house. She continued moving along the hallway and she knew Liam was behind her despite her constantly telling him she doesn't need him too. He didn't listen though. It had been a grueling few minutes of nothing when Ivy walked into a room. Inside there was a small, stuffed bear. She picked it up and looked at Liam. Ivy poked her bottom lip out and grinned. "Look, we could give it to the baby?"
