Chapter 1 pt. 1

Isabella's POV:

The group of four of us are standing up against the wall trying to see if we can see Cesar and Alex who are getting us drinks from the party.

Jamal and Ruby are freaking out about the fact that they are taking forever to get the drinks, "do you see him, I don't see him" Monse says as wee all stand up a bit taller to try and see if they can find Cesar in the crowd , "something bad is happening, I can feel it" Jamal says while trying to get a good look.

"I knew this was a dumb idea" he continues "pop a zannie J, we can't see them cause their being stealth" Ruby says confidently "no doubt they got this, when has Cesar ever disappointed us" Monse says trying to calm them down making Jamal look at her with a pointed look.

"Fourth grade kickball tourney, we lost" Jamal says making Monse look at him annoyed before a voice cuts in, "only cause I picked the kid with no skills" Cesar says while Alex follows behind him with a sly smile on his face.

"And I'd pick you again" Cesar continues while passing the beers out, "loyalty trumps victory compa" Alex says while walking up to me and wrapping his arms around my waist, we all peak over the wall to look into the party again.

"Take it in, this is about to be us. This is high school" Cesar says with a smile before we all take a sip out of our beers before grimacing, "Ruby do you think your brother's going to marry Angelica ?" Monse says "no idea. Mario tells me Jack" Ruby replies.

Jamal laughs out before jumping into the conversation, "what about that time he said Angelica has a dangler?" Ruby gives him a look making Jamal stop laughing, "but he said that" he defends himself. "In private, time and place dude" Ruby says before directions his attention elsewhere.

I giggle at the conversation before looking where Ruby was, "oh guys, check out Huerita at nine o'clock, Monse if you were a girl-" he starts before Monse cuts him off "I am a girl" she responds which doesn't faze Ruby.

"Yeah, but if you were a girl like that would you wear underwear?" Ruby asks making Monse roll her eyes as Jamal starts freaking out. "Oh my god, I'm gonna die. I'm gonna die. I'm gonna die"  he says, "why are you gonna die?" Monse asks while side eying him.

"Those guys play for the ridge, did you know that last year alone over a quorum of kids-" Jamal starts "died playing football?" Monse finishes for him, "you're stuck on repeat, so don't play" Monse says as I nod my head in agreement. "No choice. My pops was a legend" Jamal says out in frustration.

"I'm dead" he says while breathing hard while walking away from the wall, "you're not dead" I say while walking down with him while Monse follows.

Ruby is still looking over the wall but Cesar turns and asks, "football spiral?" By the time Cesar reached over here Jamal has his head in between his legs while breathing even harder.

"Jamal, CTE is not in your future" Cesar says while getting in his line of sight, Ruby finally turns around as Alex is just leaning against the wall, "guys check out my game, Huerita just gave me the nod" Ruby says before sad eyes grabs him and pulls him up against the wall.

"Eyeing my girl cabrón?" He asks while Ruby grunts in pain, "no god no. I'm not into blondes" Ruby says quickly as we all stand up straighter.

"easy he does your mom's taxes, Mrs Guzman right?" Cesar steps in as Ruby nods his head "three thousand dollar refund. Schedule C, line 30, home office deduction" Ruby says.

"Seriously dude?" Monse asks just before another guy comes up to grab Ruby before looking at the group of us, "yo what are you doing ese? Thats Spooky's little bros dawg" he says making sad eyes let go of Ruby who immediately rushes over to us.
