Thanks for checking out my work, but I have to be upfront with you...

I've been on WP for a while, and if you're like me, you come to WP to read, write, and maybe get feedback—not to buy books. It's not a place for sales and cheap marketing. That said, Caleb McCallister is my first published novel, and I'm only allowed to post a free sample. Once the contract is up, I'll be posting the remaining chapters weekly. The whole novel is available free on Kindle Unlimited. In the meantime, I hope you will take a look, leave a comment, let me know what you think, and not hate me too much for only posting what I can right now.

-Cheers!

A fragment from Lebor Dé Faireoiri,

The Book of Sentries, circa 9th century.

In days of old, before time, the stories began.

Passed down by ancient scholars, those days before man.

From four mystical cities of legend and fame

Came the four priceless treasures. To Erin, they came.

From Falias, to the north, the city of stone.

Where the black raven does fly and Hawthorn trees moan.

From the deepest of quarries came the Stone of Fal.

The destiny of the King, the stone, it shall call.

In Finias, to the east, the city of air.

From the highest of mountains and metals so rare.

King Nuada was given a sword of bright light.

It can never be conquered once drawn into fight.

In Gorias, to the south, the city of fire.

Where tales of magic are told and sung by a choir.

In Gorias was crafted a magical spear,

Lugh's Spear of Fire ignites Fomorian fear.

From Murias to the west, city of the sea,

Descendants of Atlantis and narwhales swim free.

The rich Cauldron of Plenty that satisfies all,

Was bequeathed to the Dogda, at the harvest ball.

The Tuatha Dé Danann ruled o'er Erin,

By virtue of these favors and power within.

They defeated the darkness and let in the light.

Mountains, valleys, and coastline, an enchanting sight.

Pray, watch over these treasures, these powers of good.

Should the darkness unite them, where virtue once stood,

Humanity shall suffer a terrible cost.

Evil will rule. Light will fade. And all shall be lost.

They have served Dé Danann well. Yet hide them away.

Protect these priceless treasures. For will come a day,

When a Sentry shall rise, to battle the night

With the King's magical sword and restore the light.
