Based on the movie

Henry couldn't remember the day it had all started.

He remembered being overwhelmed at the Melbourne Climate Conference. His father had just died and a good-looking man was asking him for advice. So, imagine his surprise when he is later involved in a scandal with this man, Alex Claremont-Diaz.

Their relationship grew exponentially. They were reading to kids in the hospital, doing interviews, eating brunch, and texting all of the time. Then Henry received an invitation to a New Year's Eve party.

When he walked in and saw Alex with his silver jacket and black unbuttoned shirt, his love only grew bigger.

(I don't wanna look at anything else now that I saw you

I don't wanna think of anything else now that I thought of you

I've been sleeping so long in a 20-year dark night

And now I see daylight, I only see daylight)

The rest of the night he celebrated with Alex until the countdown started. Now was his chance.

The clock hit one.

He walked forward.

Alex started making out with a bunch of girls.

(Luck of the draw only draws the unlucky

And so I became the butt of the joke

I wounded the good and I trusted the wicked

Clearing the air, I breathed in the smoke)

Of course, he had missed his chance. He had waited too long and now Alex would never be interested in him.

As Henry left the party he heard Alex calling his name but he didn't care, New Year's was overrated anyway.

(Maybe you ran with the wolves and refused to settle down

Maybe I've stormed out of every single room in this town)

Alex had followed him and the next thing he knew they were talking.

"Did I do something wrong?" Alex asks.

"Do you ever wonder who you'd be if you were an anonymous person in the world?"

Alex responds quickly to that one. Not just four years ago he was.

"Who would you be?" He asks Henry after he gives the retelling of his past life.

"I'd be a writer. Live in Paris. And I'd certainly date more."

That gets a chuckle out of Alex. As if no one wants to be with a prince.

However, the next thing Henry says has Alex confused, "The people I date don't interest me, and the people that interest me I can't date."

He voices his confusion.

"Christ your as thick as it gets."

(Threw out our cloaks and our daggers because it's morning now

It's brighter now, now)

That's the last thing Alex hears before Henry's lips are on his, and he can't help but kiss him back.

(I don't wanna look at anything else now that I saw you

I don't wanna think of anything else now that I thought of you

I've been sleeping so long in a 20-year dark night

And now I see daylight, I only see daylight)
