➹ four days had passed since koizumi's visit to my house, and in that time, i'd somehow managed to forget about the deal we struck.

while i'd been helping her refine her style and blend in with the crowd for the book club, i hadn't done a thing to promote it. now, here i was, reluctantly sticking the lackluster posters she'd made around the school.

"you really think this will work? they're not exactly eye-catching." i remarked, accepting a piece of tape from koizumi and pasted one of the posters to the wall.

the design was simplistic, resembling something crafted by a twelve-year-old, complete with emojis—clearly, koizumi was a bit outdated in this department.

"are you dissing my creativity?" she retorted, raising an eyebrow at my comment. "yes, i am." i replied bluntly, earning an irritated glare from her. "tch, whatever. let's just hope someone notices them." she grumbled.

"how did you even spread the word about the book club, anyway?" i asked, slightly surprised at her lack of marketing finesse.

while i knew koizumi excelled academically, her skills in marketing seemed sorely lacking. she nervously chuckled, admitting, "i, uh, asked the student council if i could use their PA system to announce it."

i couldn't help but deadpan at her strategy. she truly was inexperienced in this area, and disappointment flashed across my face as we continued searching for another spot to plaster the posters.

it was still early in the morning, just before classes began, and both of us had arrived at school earlier than usual—well, in my case, i was forced to wake up early because koizumi wanted her bike back and insisted on the posters being put up before classes start, so she wouldn't skip lunch again.

thinking about lunch reminded me of something that had been bothering me lately. i'd noticed koizumi eating her lunch alone, something that hadn't been the norm before.

it all traced back to the situation she'd shared with her ex-best friend, narumi. i couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt; in part, i blamed myself for not knowing what had happened between narumi and atsumu.

atsumu had never divulged that information to us. but after learning what narumi had said to koizumi, it became clear that koizumi didn't deserve to be treated that way by someone who was supposed to be a friend.
