Adelaide probably still had goosebumps lining her skin as her body bounced up and down in rhythm with the minivan's bumps along the road. Wether she admitted it or not, what had just happened had terrified her. What were these men capable of? What would they do once they caught them? The Pogues weren't quiet enough to not get noticed creating trouble along the Cut, so these mysterious killers would have no trouble finding them if they really tried. Adelaide was different than Kiara: she couldn't care less about the rooster's death. It was the probability of her own neck being snapped that ran shivers up her spine.

"A family heirloom, what better place to hide a message?" John B said as Pope dangled the compass in front of his squinted eyes. "He had to know it was going to get back to me, right?"

"Yeah, it's possible." Kiara nodded from the front seat, though her reply didn't seem entirely genuine. They were cautious not to contradict John B on the subject of his father, knowing how badly he'd react. Well, expect for Pope.

"It could also be possible you're concocting wild theories to help, you know, deal with your sad feels." he shrugged.

"Nice, Pope. Nice." Adelaide whispered so only he could hear.

"Bro you know how I process my sad feels, dank nugs and the stickiest of sickies, that's how I do it." JJ uselessly commented.

"I'm not concocting okay? My dad's trying to give me a message." he defended, and they all quieted down.

"It it helps you believe, John B," Kiara said kindly, offering him a soft smile.

"Look, I don't need a therapy session, okay?!" John B exclaimed angrily. "I'm not tripping out!"

"It's okay if you are, I mean it must be so hard to--" Adelaide tried to comfort, but she was abruptly cut off.

"Look, my dad is missing, okay? Missing! You don't know what it's like to have the person closest to you vanish and then have no idea what happened. Just wake up every morning, wondering--" he argued heavily, his voice on the verge of breaking.

"It's been almost an year," Kiara whispered, possibly trying to offer some sense in her friend's unwavering hopes.

"He could have been kidnapped, that's definitely a possibility." JJ added, attempting to calm the situation, though it turned it into ridiculous theories as Pope continued the boy's initiative.

"Yeah, could be a Soviet sub getting interrogated by the KBG somewhere?"

"Absolutely!"

"Guys, I think there's an extremely slim chance you're on the right track," Adelaide shook her head. "But John B, that 'Redfield' could be a potential clue."
