I was in the changing room, getting changed after a match with the team when Daniel asked me about the baby.
"When's she due then?" He asks

"What Phoebe?"

"Who else mate?" He chuckles, and I do too.

"She was due last Thursday, so it could literally be any day now."

"Excited for you mate, and so are the fans!"

"Nah they just want to butter me up so I'll play for England in the World Cup even though I'll literally have a young child. At least that's what coach and my manager said so?"

"Well, I hope you do play in the World Cup, if it's not too much for you, because I'm on the team and I'd love to play alongside you!"

"Yeah, I'll talk to Charlie and have a think!"

I walk out of the changing room after saying my goodbyes and meet Charlie. That's when Charlie and I  got the message that we'd been waiting for for what felt like forever.

Dani : Hey, I just wanted to let you know
Phoebe is going into labor so get here now!

Char ❤️ : OMG!! Ok we are on our way!

Me : is she okay? Does she need anything?

Dani : she's fine but she says thank you!

Phoebe, our surrogate, was going into labor, meaning Charlie and I were about to be parents. Phoebe is an absolutely phenomenal person and I really wanted to be there for her the best way we possibly could. Dani, her sister, was there to give us updates at every step of the way.

As we pulled into the hospital car park, Charlie spoke up for the first time.

"We're gonna be parents, nick," his voice was full of joy, but he was also chocked up. We shared a quick kiss before running inside.

"We are here for Phoebe Martin?" I say to a nurse. Charlie's grip on my hand tightens as he beams up at me.

"Room C27, down the hall" she smiled back and we thanked her before running up the corridor. We weren't allowed in at first because of security. As we aren't family or related in any way, they had to make sure she was ok with us being allowed in.

After a short while we were told to wait outside until baby was born. So me and Charlie sat on blue, plasticy chairs and talked to pass the time.
"So, final chance. Girl or boy?" I ask, taking his hand in mine.

"I'm sticking with my gut. It's a girl, BUT if it's a boy I'll be just as happy." He replies resting his head on my shoulder.

"Mm your gonna be wrong then because it's most definitely a boy, and when he is I'm gonna rub it in your face."

"And if it's a girl?"

"Then I'll love her more than life itself"

"More than me?"

"Oh 100%!" I laugh, and he knows I'm joking because I could never love anyone more than him. That's when I decide to post a story giving an insight what's going on, letting everyone know why I may not be at matches and also because I've gained a bigger following after sharing our surrogate birth story.
